C ouncilors voted to approve the first reading o f the ordinance, by title only, and are scheduled to consider its adoption at the Nov. 5 meeting. The ord in an ce was proposed after concerns about the number of school- aged children around the community during school hours were brought to the atten tio n o f Boardm an Police Chief Rick Stokoe. The city has consulted with the school district about the proposed truancy ordinance and, if adopted, would give law enforcement a tool to support the school in truancy policies. Two other ordinances had their first readings Tuesday night. Both relate to language changes in the Municipal Code pertaining to the Code Compliance/ Animal Control policies and the penalties for Municipal Code violations. In other city business the council approved giving the Boardman Christmas Decoration Committee up to $2,000, and they passed a resolution for temporary parking on NE Boardman Avenue for residents of the Trail Apartments while construction is underway.
