Sept. 16-20, is Homecoming week for Heppner High School. Homecoming activities included the traditional themed days, with Duct Tape Day on Monday, rhrift Shop Day on Tuesday and Fictional Character Day on Wednesday. Thursday will be Blue and Gold Day. On Wednesday, there was a National Anthem c ompet i t i on, with the wi nner to sing at the Homecom ing game and points earned for the class competitions. On Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m., an Ultimate Frisbee C om petition is planned with sprinklers in end zones at the practice field at HHS. The bonfire will follow at the north gravel area at HHS. On Thursday, the spirit parade will leave the high school at 2 p.m. and make its way to a pep assembly at the football field. F r i d a y w r a p s up Homecoming week with a football game versus Irrigon at 7 p.m. at the Heppner football field with the Homecoming dance to follow. HHS holds open house AWANA commander Dale Bates shares a Bible lesson with club members. -Contributedphoto AWANA Bible Club for children ages three through the sixth grade will get underway this Thursday night, Sept. 19, at Willow Creek Baptist Church at 560 N. M inor Street in Heppner. Club starts at 6:30 p.m.; however, parents are urged to be there early for registration. A W A N A is an international program that features games, lessons and music to teach children about the Bible. Preschoolers are in the Cubbies group, kindergarten through second grade are in the Sparks Club, and grades three to six are in the Truth and Training (T&T) group. Bv Mallorie Jones Heppner High School held an open house in the gym, Tuesday, Sept. 10, to provide information for the parents about Career and Technical Education (CTE), Agriculture Education and Eastern Promise classes available to the students. After a brief i nt roduct i on from the principal, Matt Combe, the parents went from classroom to classroom, where teachers presented information about the specifics o f each CTE, and Class Representative, Logan Kennedy.
