that he caught two male
subjects, one in a black
hoodie and one in a white
hoodie, in the sawmill. He
said they took off running
on foot when they saw
him. The caller said he was
toward the north gate in a
semi, hauring lumber at the
north entrance.

of a vehicle parked in a
handicap parking spot in
Heppner without a handicap
placard.

of suspicious circumstances

with lights on around 10

that someone in a newer

pickup with an extend cab
had just taken an ice chest
from the back of the caller’s
pickup in Heppner.

vehicle parked at the far end
of Willow Creek Reservoir
on private property. They
were advised to leave.

deputy responded but was
unable to locate anything.

woman that two subjects
were hauling m etal off
her property and she had
not been paid. A deputy
responded, contacted the
subjects and determined it
was a civil issue,

from a Heppner man that he
sold a car to another subject
and agreed to hold the title
while the subjects made
payments, but the subjects
still have the car and have
not m ade paym ents. A
deputy contacted the caller
and advised the case with
be referred to the Umatilla
Police Department.

request from a Heppner
woman for paperwork that
showed that the hit and run
she was involved in was a
violation and not a crime.
-MCSO received report
that the marine deputy in
Boardman was finishing up
a marine class.

Boardman subject that an
adult male was choking at
a school barbecue. He was
reported to be breathing,
but gagging. MCSO was
en route, but stood down
before arrival. The subject
refused transport.

from a woman in Heppner
that o f several calls from
a subject requesting beer
and asking to talk with
a serg ean t. A sergeant
contacted staff and advised
th a t if th e c a lls keep
coming, the subject could
be charged with telephone
harassment.
-MCSO received
request for deputy assistance
from the Department of
Human Services for an
interview at Irrigon High
School. MCSO arrested
Melvin Geovany Gonzales-
Cardona, 29, for Failure to

He was lodged at Umatilla
County Jail, along with
a parole and probation
detainer and $7,500 bail.

lodged at Umatilla County
Jail with $5,000 bail.

kids in the back o f the
pickup playing around and
fighting.

o f a high-centered black
Ford Thunderbird with two
males inside acting strange.
The caller said the males
were acting strange and
took off down Second St.
in Irrigon at a high rate of
speed.

from a Heppner woman that
a male had just drunk a beer
that she had sold him and
then rode his red scooter
around Main Street.
-MCSO received report
o f a suspicious vehicle
out by the Boardman gun
range.
-MCSO received report
from an Irrigon woman that
three females were yelling
and throwing rocks at her
dogs. She said her dog ran
toward her, jumped on her
and barked after the rocks
were thrown. The caller
said she spoke to hem and
told them to go home and
they left.

from a Boardman woman
that her sister-in-law was
in a fight with her boyfriend
and he was hitting her with

caller could not provide a
description for the bike or
a location other than West
Highway 730. A deputy was
advised.
-MCSO received report
from an Irrigon subject
that her brother was being
harassed on a daily basis
by a male subject and his
sons. She reported it was
an ongoing issue.
-MCSO received report
of several totes of personal
items that were dumped
near Depot Lane/Paterson
Ferry Rd., Irrigon. The
caller said the items look
like they may have been
take from a storage unit.

of a red Angus steer along
the roadside on Tower Rd.,
Kunze Lane.
-MCSO received report
of a female who had gone to
the caller’s house and asked
for a ride to the casino from
lone. However, he was still
sitting at the casino waiting.
She was reported to be
wearing a white hat, white
sunglasses and white pants.

from a man in Boardman
that his vehicle was just hit
by another vehicle and the
vehicle didn't stop, just kept
on driving. He reported that
the suspect was down at
Willow Creek fishing.

warrant. He was lodged at
Umatilla County Jail with
$6,000 bail.

from an Irrigon man that he
was out walking his dogs
when another dog came out
and lunged at him and then
the other dog owner and he
had a verbal disagreement.
A female was given a verbal
warning concerning dogs
leaving her property.

Abrams named
director of Oregon
Dept, of State Lands
Salem, OR—The State
Land Board has selected
former Heppner resident
Mary M. Abrams as the
next Director of the Oregon
Department of State Lands.
Abrams is the daughter
of Marion and the late Bob
Abrams, also formerly of
Heppner.
The d e p a r t m e n t
oversees management of
Oregon’s Common School
Fund, along with Oregon's
waterways, wetlands and
state-ow ned range and
forest lands.
“ I am p leased that
s o m e o n e o f M a r y ’s
c a l i b e r is t a k i n g the
reins at the Departm ent
o f State L a n d s , ” said
Governor Kitzhaber. “Her
management experience
and her experience growing
up and working in rural
parts o f the state are a
great combination for an
agency that is engaged
across Oregon to support
our public schools while
preserving our natural
resources.”

her a unique combination
o f local, state and global
experience,” said Secretary
of State Kate Brown. “Her
willingness to work with
diverse partners and her
strong background in both
science and policy will
serve the Department o f
State Lands well.”
Treasurer Ted Wheeler

from the continued wise
stewardship o f our state
lands and w aterw ays. I
am impressed with Mary
Abrams’ background, and
1 believe her expertise and
collaborative style will help
ensure these Oregon assets
will provide dividends for
generations.”
Abrams has worked as
a country director for the
U.S. Peace Corps in Africa
since 2006. Prior to that, she
was a division administrator
and water quality specialist
at the Oregon Department
of Environmental Quality.
Abrams has also worked for
the City of Portland and the
Oregon Graduate Institute.
She holds a Ph D. and an
M.S. in soil science from the
University of California at
Davis, and graduated from
the University of Arizona
with a B.S. in agronomy.
She grew up in Morrow
County and worked in La
Grande for several years
while with DEQ.

Oregon farm country and
attending public schools,
I am honor ed to lead
O regon’s Department of
State Lands,” said Abrams.
“ I believe deeply in
the mission of the agency
to ensure a legacy for
Oregonians and their public
schools through sound

lands, wetlands, unclaimed
property, estates and the
Common School Fund.”
Abrams’ appointment
is effective Nov. 1. She
replaces Louise Solliday,
who is retiring after six
years as director o f the
department.
