Relay for Life Fund
raiser: Wheatland Insurance
is selling raffle tickets for an
Italian Dinner for eight to
benefit our local Relay for
Life event. Raffle tickets are
$5 and the winner will be
drawn around the event on
Aug. 3-4. The dinner will be
prepared by Missy Lindsay
and Carrie Grieb and served
by the Wheatland family.
Tickets may be purchased

Center in lone or Heppner
or from any W heatland
staff. Make sure you stop
by and get entered into the
draw ing for a great dinner
opportunity. All proceeds

Commission unanimously
adopts new wolf rules
SALEM, O re.— The
Fish and Wildlife Commis
sion adopted new perma
nent Oregon Administrative
Rules to manage wolves
in Oregon when it met by
phone recently. The new
rules are based on agree
ments reached between
ODFW, Oregon Wild, Cas-
cadia Wildlands and the
Oregon Cattlemen’s Asso
ciation through settlement
of a lawsuit.
The new rules can be
found online and make the
following key changes:

4-H horse show
planned for July 27
The Morrow County
4-H horse show is coming
up on Saturday, July 27,
at 7:30 a.m. at the Mor
row County Fairgrounds in
Heppner.
The public is invited to
support local 4-H youth by
attending the show to watch
the 4-H exhibitors display
their skills with their horse
projects.
The morning starts off
with various equitation and
wolves, it must confirm four
qualifying incidents within
a six-month time frame
(previously it was two dep
redation incidents and no
specific timeframe).
-Require agency coor
dination with a wider array
of interests once wolf activ
ity is known in an area.
-Require the develop
ment and public disclosure
of area-specific wolf-live-
stock conflict deterrence
plans that identify non-
lethal measures to minimize
conflict.
-Require that non-lethal
measures be implemented
showmanship classes in
Wilkinson Arena, followed
by the gaming events in
the afternoon in the rodeo
arena.

May 28: -MCSO cited
Dana Jo Harris, 49, For
Driving While Suspended-
violation and Driving Un
insured in Irrigon.
-MCSO received report
from an Irrigon man that a
pickup had been parked in
an entryway since the previ
ous Friday.
-MCSO received re
port from the Boardman
Fire Chief that the Station
7 building was struck by
a vehicle on its southwest
corner. He said the pickup
may have been a dually type
vehicle and there were tire
tracks. MCSO responded
and took a criminal mis
chief report.
-MCSO cited Maria De
Jesus Madrigal. 42, for Vio
lation of the Basic Rule, 72
mph in a 55 mph zone.
-MCSO received report
from an Irrigon woman of a
yellow Lab mix at large. A
deputy responded, but the
animal was no longer in
the area. MCSO advised the
caller than if it was safe to
do so, tie up the animal and
they would come get it.
-MCSO received report
that a subject almost ran
them into the guardrail on
Hwy. 207 heading toward
Lexington. The caller re
ported the vehicle license,
but just wanted the driver
advised of proper driving
habits. MCSO sergeant
made contact and com
pleted the contact.
-MCSO received report
of a unit broken into at the
mini-storage in Irrigon.
-MCSO received report
from an Irrigon woman
that she was “trying to get
her things and was having
resistance.”
-MCSO received report
of a dark green Toyota Co
rolla passing in a no-passing
zone, going through Irrigon
on Hwy. 730 at 60 mph.
-MCSO received report
from a Heppner woman
that her neighbor’s dog was
loose again and she saw it
eating one of the chickens
