Corol M itchell took low gross of the field. Karen Thompson and Laura Rog ers tied for low net, and Sarah Rucker had least putts. For Hight A, Corol M itchell had the long drive. On flight B, C arrie Grieb had low gross, Judy Harris took low net, Lor raine Montgomery had least putts and Sarah Rucker had the long drive. For flight C, Betty Carl son had low gross and long drive, while Jackie Allstott had low net, and Bev Stea gall had least putts and KP. Willow Creek Coun try Club has announced that the 2013 Ladies Club Championship Tournament will be held July 19-20. All lady members of WCCC are eligible to participate in the tournament, which will name a Ladies Gross Champion and a Ladies Net Champion. The 36-hole competi tion tees off at 5 p.m. Friday with 18 holes, followed by 18 holes on Saturday morning with an 8 a.m. tee time. Awards will be given for each day’s play, to in clude a number of special events, with champions be ing named from their two- day combined scores. The WCCC board will host the event both days and says it extends a warm welcome to all challeng ers at all skill levels. To register for the event, or for any questions, call the clubhouse at 676-5437. Obituaries Wilma Louise (Dobyns) Hardesty family. Wilma loved sewing, quilting and gardening, and was an active volunteer at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and in the com munity of Eugene. She was also a member of Valby Lu theran Church in lone. She had many close friends and will be remem bered for her devotion to her immediate and extend ed family, her kindness, her willingness to help others in need, and her sense of Above: Skip and Peggy Connor when they were “going out” humor. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and husband. W ilm a is su rv iv ed by: her son Jeff and his wife Susan Jacobson; son Gary; daughter Sharon and husband David Koeltzow; granddaughters Amanda and Mikayla; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends, all of whom loved her dearly and will miss her. Wilma Louise (Dobyns) Hardesty, 87, passed away April 25, 2013 in Vancou ver, WA surrounded by family. She was buried next to her beloved husband, Tad, at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene, OR on May 1,2013. Wilma was bom Feb ruary 17, 1926 in lone to Walter Dobyns and Esther Petersen Dobyns. Wilma was raised on the family ranch near lone and attend ed schools there, graduating from lone High School in 1943. She moved to Corval lis in 1944 to attend Oregon State College (now Oregon State University) and then to Portland in 1945, where she graduated from Western Business College. Wilma went to work for Pacific Tel & Tel, where she met the love o f her life. Tad E. Hardesty. They were married on November 22, 1947. Sons Gary and Jeff were born in Portland, OR and daughter Sharon was bom in Eugene, where Wilma and Tad raised their Heppner students named to EOU WCCC Ladies Club dean’s list Two Heppner students, of Boardman, and Robert championship set Eric Jepsen and Kellee Weems of Irrigon. Martin, Grant tie for top spot in Sunday men’s play Co-chairmen John Ed- mundson and Ray Cecil reported that 29 men played in the regular Sunday men’s play on July 7. In that capacity, Hintz travelled approxim ately 30,000 mile across Oregon, as well as to Indianapolis, IN and Argentina. “What I'm doing now is what I’ve done for the past year on a large scale,” says Zech. “It’s fun to practice the skills I’ve learned." He will resum e his educational career this fall, entering Cornell University in Ithaca, NY to pursue a degree in agricultural sci ence with plans to obtain either a double major or minor in marketing. Hintz says his current job as temporary fair man ager is enjoyable but a bit hectic as he tries to get up to speed and prepare for perhaps the most important fair in Morrow County his tory. “No pressure, right?” he jokes. The centennial Morrow County Fair and Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo will take place Aug. 14-17, 2013. A donation-only car wash to benefit local woman Crysti Taylor is planned for Saturday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. behind Les Schwab in Heppner. Proceeds will go to offset medical expenses for Taylor, who is undergoing cancer treatment. An account for donations has also been set up for Taylor at the Bank of Eastern Oregon. • Chamber lunch meeting Friends and Family are invited to the wedding of Kylee Pisaue and Sean Allstott v_ Skip and Peggy Connor of Heppner will be celebrat ing their 60th anniversary July 20 from 2-4 p.m. at the Elks Club in Heppner, Ore. The date for the crane to lift the clock tower and the bell off o f the Mor row County Courthouse in Heppner has been set for July 23. This date may be subject to change if weather conditions or other vari ables are not favorable. Northwest Crane Ser vice will bring in their 225-ton crane early in the morning and begin their set-up. If all goes well, the work should be completed by noon. The courthouse will be closed all day on July 23 for the safety of the em ployees, the public and the contractor.
