Activities may include programs about dinosaurs, ancient Egypt, caves and rocks, animals that live underground, and more. The 2013 Sum m er Reading program is open to young people, toddler through young adult, with programs, prize drawings, story hours and more. Cham ber lunch meeting Kricket Nicholson with United Way of Umatilla and Morrow Counties will be the speaker at this week’s Hep pner Chamber of Commerce lunch meeting; she will be speaking on the benefits and services the Morrow County communities receive from United Way. The meeting will take place Thursday, June 13, at noon in the St. Patrick’s Senior Center dining room. Lunch expense is $10; Heppner Family Foods will cater. Lunch attendees are asked to RSVP no later than the Wednesday before. Please note that this will be the last regular chamber lunch meeting for the month of June. The next meeting will be an all entities report on July 11. Pastor Rod Hardin officiated. The bride wore a silk fit and flare gown with a sweetheart neckline. The wedding party in cluded maid of honor Sarah Miller, friend of the bride, from Great Falls, and best man Aaron Myers, brother o f the groom, from Big Sandy. The bride was also at tended by Courtney Morter, sister-in-law of the bride, of Hermiston; Chelsie Morter, sister of the bride, of Cos ta Mesa, CA; and Kailey Morter, sister of the bride, of Kirkland, WA. Flower girls were cousins of the bride Grace and Paige Gru- enwald of Hermiston, and Moira Di Salvo o f Lex ington. The groom’s attendants were Chris Myers, brother of the groom, of Big Sandy; Mason Ophus, friend of the June 2, 2013, was an exciting day for the pa rishioners o f St. Patrick’s Catholic Church as they celebrated three very im portant events. First, it was the Feast of Corpus Christi, when Catholics celebrate the tra dition and belief in the Real Presence o f Jesus in the Eucharist. Secondly, six faith- filled boys made their first Holy Communion. Last, but certainly not least, the church’s newly arrived blessing from India, Father Kumar, celebrated his birthday. The students worked with their teachers, Joe Lindsay and Mary Ann Elguèzabal, to learn the many, many requirements for the sacrament of pen ance and the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. When the students were having a bit of trouble learning the Ten Commandments, the seven sacraments and the precepts of the church, Joe Lindsay set the information to music. Quite remarkably, they learned the material in a jiffy. The boys read the prayer intentions and also brought up the gifts during the offertory. Dillan carried a beautiful golden box rep resenting the gift of grace that each would receive.
