At her request, there will be no public ser vice. Disposition was by cremation. Veda's life will be celebrated by her loved ones in a pri vate service. She was born on June 9, 1925 in Cyclone, MO. Veda dedicated 40 years to the care of the sick and elderly, first in Union and La Grande, OR, and for the last 16 years in Morrow County, where Veda worked at Pioneer Memorial Hospi tal for the Morrow County Home Health Care Pro gram. Veda’s compassion and nursing skills touched many lives. In 2003, Veda was honored by the Or egon Association o f Home Care as O regon’s Home Health Aid of The Year. Veda worked in nursing and volunteered for hospice until the age of 82, w hen her children convinced her to retire and enjoy a little trav eling. Veda was pre J u n e ceded in death by her husband, Ralph Nave, and mother. Opal Green. Veda is survived by her 10 loving children, their spouses, three generations of grandchildren, two sis ters and one brother. Funeral Notice Francis Paul Stack—Francis Paul Stack, 71, of Boise, ID, formerly of Heppner, died at his home of heart failure on Thursday morning May 30, 2013. Service will be held at Boise’s Morris Hill Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 7, with reception to follow at Shepherd of the Valley Lu theran Church. Chamber lunch meeting (Choi) Penny Esther Marquardt, 58, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in Portland, OR. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Par ish, 1432 S.W. 13th Ave., Portland, on Sunday, June 9 at 2 p.m. Penny was born in Seoul, Korea on June 28, 1954. The adopted daughter of Bill and Rena Marquardt, she came to the United States in 1958. She attended school in Lexington and Heppner and then gradu- Darrell E. Coppock Darrell E. Coppock, 90, longtime Morrow and Gil liam county resident, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at M id-C olum bia M edical Center in The Dalles. At his request, no service will be held. He was bom March 17, 1923 in Athena, OR, the son of Frank and Amanda Mo rey Coppock. He was raised and attended Athena public schools, where he gradu ated from high school. In 1941, he married Elizabeth Long. They had three children, Judson, Alan and Kerry. They later di vorced. Darrell joined the Unit ed States 26lh Marines, 5,h Division in 1944 and was classified as Rifle Expert. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained on lwo Jima in 1945. He m arried W ilma “Billie” Harshman Kemp in 1974. Pastor Seth Trimmer officiated. Bethany is the daughter of Dr. Arthur Robinson and the late Laurelee Robin son of Cave Junction, OR. Daniel is the son of Bill and Nancy Jepsen, and grand son of Bob and Suzanne Jepsen, all of Heppner. The w edding party included maid o f honor Arynne Robinson, sister of the bride, and bridesmaids Rebecca Jepsen o f Hep pner, sister of the groom; Sarah and Fama Robin son, sisters-in-law o f the bride from Cave Junction; and Melanie Dinger, friend from Corvallis. The groom was attended by his brother Eric Jepsen of Heppner as best man, and groomsmen Neill Grandy of Bonanza, OR and Nick Jordan of Gig Harbor, WA. Flower girls were Lydia Robinson, niece o f the bride, and Olivia Smith, friend of the bride. Ring bearers were Jonathan and Daniel Robinson, neph ews of the bride. Music was provided by pianist Amy SchatTeld, sister of the groom; violinist Eric Jepsen, brother of the groom; and organist Mat thew Robinson, brother of the bride. The bride wore a one piece, A-line, capped-sleeve dress overlaid with beaded lace detail. Her bouquet was assorted shades of pink and white roses and other flowers. Daniel is a 2003 graduate o f Heppner High School and a 2010 graduate of Oregon State University with a Master’s Degree in Crop Science. After a honeymoon to Hawaii, the couple is cur rently residing in Merrill, OR. The groom is an agron- om ist at J & W Walker Farms, and the bride works part-time as a substitute teacher and tutor.
