wheeler. The two hour river
cruise, which is dedicated
totally to the HES crew,
departs and ends in Cas
cade Locks. The young
people taking part in the
day’s events are readers
who have met all four of
their Accelerated Reading
goals for the year. You may
remember that two years
ago HES readers visited the
Portland Zoo, and last year
enjoyed a day of festivities
at Cutsforth Park.
O f course 150 students
and staff traveling to Cas
cade Locks and cruising the
Columbia is quite expen
sive. HES Parent Teacher
Club is providing bottled
water and a snack for the
trip, and students are bring
ing their own lunches to
help defray costs. The HES
magazine sale pays for a
great deal of the trip, but
additional funds are needed,
so a baked goods raffle is
planned!
Tickets for the yummy
items will be on sale at the
HES and HHS offices, or
you may drop a check in
the mail and Mrs. Sweeney
will fill out your tickets for
you!
The school address is
P.O. Box 367. The win
ning tickets will be drawn
on Monday, May 20, and
the cost o f the tickets is
25 cents each or 6 for $ 1.
Baked goods for the raffle
are: Mrs. Clough’s famous
oatm eal chocolate chip
cookies, a decadent choco
late cake baked by Mrs.
Gibbs, Darcee Mitchell’s
scrumptious chocolate mint
brownies and Mrs. Allen’s
Babe Ruth bars.
Heppner Elementary
appreciates the continual
support of the communities
of Heppner and Lexington,
and thank you in advance
for your help.
