The Luck of the Irish did prevail, and the sun shined ever so b rig h tly upon those in attendance. Many renewed old friendships while others mingled with the out of town quests. O u r R e m e m b ra n c e Committee has deemed this fundraiser a huge success! We extend our thanks and appreciation to all who so generously donated to the St. Patrick's Senior Center fundraiser. A total of $6312 was turned over to Judy Buschke, a volunteer advocate who oversees the funds for the Senior Center. Whether you walked, ran, or contributed in memory of a loved one, we thank you. The W alk/Run event is sponsored by Friends Helping Friends, and it takes all of the following committee women to make this event possible; Patty Matheny, Janelle Ellis, Peggy Fishburn, Jan Stroeber, Barb Watkins, Susan Hisler, Kathi Dickenson, Sandy Matthews, Kelly Boyer, and Mary Ann Elguezabal. These ladies take on the flyers, mailings, bracelets, shamrocks; putting up and taking down of shamrocks, and all the food and drinks for the social hour. Our Special thanks to Pastor Jonathan Enz for the use o f the H eppner M ethodist C hurch and kitchen facilities. To Joanne B urleson for her Irish decorations. Thank you's to Windwave Communications; Sandy Heppner Forest Service; Lori Seitz, wooden stakes, John Wight at Pettyjohns for cutting many many wooden stakes to make our shamrock route possible, and Heppner Elementary and H igh S ch o o l fo r lamination. Door prizes came from: Howe's About Pizza, Devin Oil, and Hatt's Fuel Stop. With over 360 people participating, this became our b ig g e st y e a r yet. We were o v e r w h e l m e d by t he generosity of all of you. We received a total of $6312! A special thanks to Friends Helping Friends committee for all their hard work and for thinking of us to receive the funds from this year's rem em brance w alk/run. I'm not sure the community is aware of the amount of work that goes into this wonderful fund raiser. So many hours spent by the the remembrance walk/run that all started in the Memory o f Donna Schonbachler. Donna was such an asset to this community and still remains dear to all of us and especially to those on the committee who have kept the funds collected going to areas that were dear to Donna's heart. Donna served on the H eppner Housing Authority board for several years and was a frequent visitor to the tenants living at St. Patrick's Apartments. I would love to acknowledge each and everyone of you personally, but that is not possible as there w ere hundreds o f you! Many participants from our local area, but also many from outside our communities. Thank you so very much.
