4-H sewing club on

Club held its third club
meeting o f the year on Jan.

Members each started
sewing their own “jelly
roll” quilt top using 40 pre­
cut, 2-'/i- by 44-inch-wide,
color-coordinated strips of
cotton fabric called “jelly
rolls.” They also enjoyed
eating a jelly roll cake for
refreshment.
Members will finish
sewing the quilt pieces
together at home or with
the help o f their sewing
assistant. Then they will
add the border at their next
meeting on Feb. 10.

passed away on January

Brian enjoyed spending

to North Dakota brought a
smile to his face.
Brian is survived by: his
adoring wife, Linda; sons,
Jason and Kyle; brother,
Terry Voltz; sister, Robin
Tucker; and many nieces
and nephews.

The Arbuckle Nordic Ski club reports that it has had new
people participate on each weekend so far. Nine skiers took
the 5350 as far as the 10 spur last Saturday, Jan. 19 (above).
Snow conditions were good and the bright sunshine was with
them the whole trip, they said. “We are lucky many weekends
by getting away from foggy, overcast Heppner and up to the
sunny, clear blue skies of the mountains," says club member
Bill Ewing. Skiers report that the 5350 trail is quite short but
has several fun hills to climb and glide down. The club goes
