Trivia contest Dec. 1
The annual Mr. Bill’s Traveling Trivia fundraiser,
hosted by Heppner Daycare and Preschool will be held
Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Heppner Elks Lodge. The cost is
$150 per table with a maximum of six players per team.

The United Methodist church members will be serv­
ing lunch on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at St. Patrick’s Senior
Center. The meal will include meatloaf, mashed potatoes
& gravy, mixed vegetables, green salad, garlic bread and
brownies. Milk is served at each meal. Suggested donation
is $3.50 per meal. The menu is subject to change.

Keep local control
over schools
To the Editor:
In reference to Governor Kitzhaber seeking the re­
duction of the local school districts, this is another way
for the government to take control of the people. Also,
how much control will the locals have over what the
youngsters are taught.
We will have no control over the collective bargain­
ing, which we should have.
He is talking about the disconnect between the local
level and state funding, but we will have no say over
where our money goes.
We need to retain local control over our schools.
