Property owners interested in finan cial and technical assistance for conservation measures on their forestlands have until Oct. 31 to apply for Environmental Quality In centives Program (EQ1P) funding for federal fiscal % J ye» 2013. “ EQIP is a voluntary conservation program that offers financial assistance to landowners to improve and enhance the condition of water, soil, wildlife habitat and other natural resources on their private working lands,” says Kacee Lathrop, NRCS District Conserva tionist. fhe U SD A -N atural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) accepts applications for EQIPyear- round. Funding decisions, however, are made at cutoff points during the year, with the current ranking period closing on Oct. 31 for Mor row County. Applications that ad dress local conservation priorities are evaluated and ranked for funding. The number o f applications accepted will be based on ranking and available fund ing. Conservation priorities in Morrow County for the F3 lakes Ranch and PenJand Lake areas include prac tices such as thinning and slash treatment. Boardman Willow Run Golf Club: Willow Run Golf Club is open for businesses. After the devastating fire on Fri day, Sept. 7, that took their home and club house, they have made a tem porary club house so people can continué to g o lf in this beautiful fall weather. Rod and Kenna appreciate all the support you can give them as they rebuild. B oardm an Tillicum Club to host Cinnamon Roll Sale: The Boardman Tillicum Club is starting their fall fundraising with a cinnamon roll sale. They will have 50 dozen rolls for sale at $10 a dozen. Stop by on Sept. 29 starting at 9 a.m. in the Chevron parking lot to get your dozen before they are all gone. They will be there until the very last dozen is sold. All proceeds from fundraisers go for scholarships, the Easter egg hunt, benevolence requests and other worthy causes. Step Out Walk for Dia betes: ConA gra Foods- Lamb Weston challenges the businesses of our com munity to put a team to gether to participate in a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association. On Sept. 29, they will host a 5K walk at the Boardman Ma rina Park with registration at 8:45 a.m. and the walk at 9 a.m. Each walker is asked to donate $25; participants will receive a t-shirt at the end of the walk. Clean Up Boardman Day: Make sure you are gathering your team to help with the Boardman Clean- Up Day on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 8 a.m. till noon, with the starting location at the Boardman City Park. We will be cleaning up trash at several locations around town. So find your DA’s Report work gloves, organize your team members and join us in making Boardman look much cleaner. The organization with the most volunteer hours will receive $100; second place, $75 and third place, $50. Call the cham ber with ques tions. Senior Breakfast: Sat urday, Oct. 6, the Boardman Senior Center will hold their monthly community breakfast from 7:30- 10:30 a.m. Breakfast is just $5. Boardman Quilt Show: The eighth annual quilt show will be held Oct. 12- 13 at the Port of Morrow Riverfront Center. Hours are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Admis sion is $3 Chamber Board Elec tions: The Board of Direc tors will have two positions open for terms serving from January 2013 thru Decem ber 2015. Saturday, Nov. 3: Ar- tifactory Craft Fair, spon sored by the St. Patrick Senior Center, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Contact the senior center to reserve a table/space at 541-676- 9030. * M orrow C ounty D istrict A ttorney Justin Nelson has released the following report: -S o n n y J a m e s P hipps, 26, w as found guilty o f probation viola tion; probation was revoked and the defendant given 2 months prison time with 12 months post-prison supervi sion and no credit for time served. The sentence is to run concurrent with another sentence. -S o n n y J a m e s Phipps, 26, was found guilty to one count of possession o f m etham phetam ine, a Class C felony, and sen tenced to 90 days jail time with credit for time served and one year post-prison su pervision. The defendant’s drivers license was also suspended for six months. Total fines, fees and assess ments were $530. -Brian lee lronbear, 41, was found guilty o f one count each of resisting arrest, a Class A misde meanor, and harassment, a class B misdemeanor. For the first count, 150 days of 180 days jail time was sus pended and the defendant given 30 days jail time with credit for time served and 36 months bench probation; probation included alcohol evaluation and 60 hours community service. For the second count, 90 days jail time was suspended and the defendant sentenced to 36 months bench proba tion; probation conditions included a written apology to the victim and 20 hours community service.
