* H e p p n e r G a z e tte -T im e s , H e p p n e r, O re g o n W ed n esd ay, S ep te m b e r 5 ,2 0 1 2 Boardman rabies clinic a success Good turnout for city s low cost rabies clinic and free dog licensing event The City of Boardman reports that its low-cost ra bies vaccination clinic had an excellent turnout, with more than 30 dogs and cats vaccinated. The clinic was held on Saturday, Aug. 25, at the city park, and the vac cinations were given by Dr. Burgess of Country Animal Hospital and his staff for a reduced cost of $19.25 per pet. The city also supplied free dog licensing that day for any dog who resided within the city limits. In addition, volunteers for the American Cancer Society were at the event taking donations for a hot dog barbeque and doggie wash to raise money for their cause. Everyone who attended the event expressed their appreciation at being able to vaccinate their pets against rabies at such a reduced cost. Organizer Keri Jarmer, the city's Code Compliance Official, said even though the event lasted only two hours, she was surprised to see such a great turn out. The city plans to host another event next year to help keep Boardman’s pet population current on their rabies vaccinations. Inland Northwest Chorale starts fall rehearsals The Inland Northwest Chorale began rehearsals for its fall concert series on Monday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. in Pendleton at Harris Junior Academy, 3121 SW Hailey Avenue. No auditions are re quired, and rehearsals are scheduled each Monday evening. Anyone who loves to sing and would be avail- - THREE able for concerts on Nov. 3 and 4 is encouraged to join.
