O f course, the Chronicles will be for sale at the fair again this year. The first story in this year’s collection of historical articles features Samuel H. Boardman, the man after whom the com munity on the banks o f the Co lumbia is named. Boardman’s influence extended beyond Morrow County, through his concern for the state’s natural beauty, and included his serv ing as an administrator o f the Oregon State Parks D epart ment. The last o f the 16 articles in this edition of the Chronicles takes the reader up into the m ountains in the southern part o f the county, to the “Lin ger Longer” Guard Station. B etw een those two stories, details abound about other county residents, about Mor row C ounty sheriffs, about m ilitary veterans, and about early farm ing m ethods and the com ing o f electricity to our rural areas. The 2012 issue o f the Chronicles is truly an example o f country pride, and it certainly holds county-wide appeal. The booklet is available for $7 this year. It is presently on sale at the Bank o f Eastern Oregon branches, the Board- man Pharmacy, the Communi ty Bank in Heppner, M urray’s Drugstore, and in the Morrow County Museum. Individual Chronicles will also be available throughout the four days o f the fair; the sets o f the Chronicles, includ ing the 2012 edition, will again be on sale for $100.
