Bv Anne Morter
The lone Lady Car
dinals sailed into the Big
Sky District Tournament
with four wins in a five day
stretch to finish the regular
season.
The Lady Cards

all and 12-2 in the Big Sky,

“We are expecting
the same kind of intensity
and the same outcom e.”
said Coach Mike Garrett.
Ih e p re-d istrict
week was a busy stretch
of basketball, partly due to
the weather cancellation in
mid-January. On Tuesday,
February 7, the Cardinals
hosted Helix. Playing with
out senior Jo Anna Patton,
the Cards started out a bit
disoriented and shooting as
cold as ice. After shooting
2-20 in the opening pe
riod and trailing the cellar-
dwelling Grizzlies, 4-7, the
Lady Cardinals made some
necessary adjustments and
kicked things into gear. A
23-2 second quarter fol
lowed by a 21-12 third
put the game safely out of
reach as they went on to
w in 60-27.
S h ad o w K e n d

game w ith a game high 14
points and 16 rebounds.
Stacee Halvorsen added 13
points.
On Thursday, Feb
ruary 0, lone hosted Central
Christian and roared to a
53-25 win.
“We were able to
work on different sets and
the younger kids got some
good playing time,” said
Garrett. The Cards built a
big first quarter lead and
kept the visitors firmly at
bay. “With four games in
five days, we were trying
to keep our legs fresh but
keep the intensity up for
district.”
The Lady Cards
hit the road to Nixyaawii
on Friday, February 10,
and encountered another
cold shooting night early
on. The Cards led 8-7 after
one quarter and 19-15 at
the half before hitting their
stride in the third, outscor-
ing the Golden Eagles 19-4.
With the lead stretched out
to 20 plus in the fourth, the
Cardinals took the game
52-34.
Shadow Kendrick
had a game high o f 23
points. JoAnna Patton was
also in double figures with
14. Kendrick. Patton and
Mary Rietmann each had
