The awards, spon sored by CenturyLink, will be held on Thursday, Janu ary 12 at the Morrow Coun ty Fairgrounds. Nomina tions are being accepted for “Woman of the Year,” “Man of the Year,” “Business of the Year,” “Citizen-Educa tor o f the Year,” “Lifetime Achievement” and “Youth Award.” Nomination forms are available at the Cham ber o f Commerce office, Bank of Eastern Oregon, Kuhn & Spicer or Com munity Bank. The forms need to be completed and turned into the chamber office or to Kuhn & Spicer by Friday, December 23. Former Trailblazer to speak at HHS Bill Walton fans will have an extended op portunity to meet the former Portland T railblazer on Monday, December 12. The NBA All-Star will be addressing an as sembly at the Heppner High School gym at 2 p.m., be fore he is to appear at the fundraising event for Hep pner Day Care that evening. The afternoon event is free and is open to students, parents and anyone else in the community who would like to attend. Walton also encourages attendees to bring any Trailblazer mem orabilia they would like him to sign. Since the evening fundraiser has already sold out, and only people with tickets will be allowed en try, this may be the only opportunity many have to see the famous basketball player and pundit. December 15: Hep- pner’s Celebrate Christmas event will kick off with the annual Parade o f Lights (sponsored by Columbia Basin) at 5:30 p.m., which also will be set up at the Fairgrounds to check out after the parade. The event will be held in the annex and dance hall at the fair grounds this year. We will have a good meal served by Sweet Productions starting at 6 p.m.; introduction of the exchange students and drawing the “reward card,” raffle items and penny board winners will begin at 7:30 p.m. Plan now to attend and start collecting the rewards cards. January 5: Annual Chamber Luncheon at All Saints Episcopal Church with the meal being catered by Alvin Liu/Comerstone Gallery. Boardman C olum bia River Community Health Ser vices - Time is running out to purchase brick to support the capital campaign for the new clinic building. Each brick sold will be installed in the walkway of the new clinic scheduled to open spring of 2012. All orders must be received by De cember 31. Cost for a brick is $100.
