HeppnerGazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, October26,2011 -FIVE Mustangs vs. Pilot HHS girls’ basket Trophy honors Rock football ball plans pie sale light parade stars The Heppner High School g irls ’ b asketball team is planning a fund raiser featuring “Wild Plum Pies.” The Mustang girls will pre-sell regular pies at $12 each or sugarless pies for $13 each in tim e for Thanksgiving. Available pies in clude apple, French apple, cherry, marionberry, razzle dazzle (a berry com bina tion), peach, straw berry- rhubarb, chocolate whip, coconut whip, lemon whip, peanut butter chocolate, German chocolate, lemon cream cheese, pum pkin, and sugarless apple, mar ionberry, raz z le d azzle, chocolate and coconut. Those interested in ordering pies may contact any high school basketball player or call coach Jeromy Wilson, 208-739-8509, or coach M elissa L indsay, 541-256-0366. Orders are due by Thursday, N ovem ber 17. Pies will be available for pickup on November 22 at 5 p.m. Heppner Elementary aims for the sky By Doris Brosnan H eppner’s Parade o f Lights will kick off the local holiday celebration on December 15 at 5:30 p.m. Individuals, school classes and business owners are all invited to add to the glitter and glow that will light up M ain S treet and delight spectators. In d iv id u a ls and school classes can again win prizes for their floats. Last year, the Chamber of Commerce added a trophy to the reasons for business o w n ers to e n te r parade floats. The “Shooting Star” traveling trophy will again be awarded to the business float voted the best. Last year, Commu nity Bank won the honor of having its name engraved on the first star added to the trophy; the bank has d isp lay ed the trophy in its lobby since last year’s event. He responded w hen the bank s ta ff in vited entries in a “create our float” competition, and he won the $100 prize for his entry chosen by an in dependent judge. A sp o k e sp e rs o n for Community Bank re ports that the business again plans to hold a “create our float” competition and use the winning design for their float. Also, the staff hopes to see “Community Bank” engraved on the second star to be added to the light parade trophy. Heppner Chamber o f C om m erce urges all interested persons to par ticipate in this year’s light parade, and hopes that the business-entry “ Shooting Star” trophy w ill be the perfect encouragement for businesses to help make Heppner shine.
