Mara Linn Young, 58, formerly of Heppner, died Sunday, April 10,2011 at the Oregon Health Sci ences University Hospital in Portland. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Fossil Fellow ship Church. She was bom Oc tober 18, 1952 at Grants Pass, the daughter of Elmer Lester and Adelle Smith Raber. She attended school in Eagle Point. She later moved to Fossil, where she worked in home health and was an EMT for many years. In 1996 she started school at Blue Mountain Community College, gradu ating in 2000 as a registered nurse. She m et B ruce Young early in 1996, and the couple married on Au gust 29, 1998 at Farewell Bend State Park. Mara worked as a nurse at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner for many years, before mov ing to Helix in 2010. She then began working at Wil- lowbrook Terrace in Pend leton. She enjoyed fishing on the Snake River, hunt ing, and especially enjoyed her yard and garden. Survivors include: her husband, Bruce Young o f Helix; mother, Adelle Raber of Fossil and brother, Michael Raber o f Eagle Point, OR. She was pre ceded in death by her father, Les Raber, in 2006. Registration will be held from 8:30 am to 9:30am. The fee is $20 per person per shot. There are three classes with a $100 prize awarded for each class. All proceeds will be used to fund chil dren’s games, prizes and free swimming for lone’s 4th o f July Celebration. Proceeds also help fund the fireworks celebration. Pat Schmidt and Jeff Thompson of Allison Carey Gunworks of Port land will be in charge of the free clay pigeon shoot. Kids are invited to this event. Bill Breshears of B&B BBQ of Gresham will be serving food. Coffee, juice, and pas tries will be offered earlier in the day. Lunch is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Some delays will be expected. Morrow County Road dept, would like to remind all motorists that with any road maintenance project to be aware of the workers. Watch for signs, flags and work-zone employees and equipment. Morrow County's goal is to provide a safe roadway. However, it is always up to the motorist to drive according to conditions. Be patient and plan ahead. Leave early if you know you will be driving through work zones. Please use extreme caution and common sense. They will do their best and would appreciate your patience.
