This community musical was filled with talent, bringing the true meaning of Christmas to all. How lucky the Willow Creek Valley is to house so much wonderful talent. The decorations, program, and time were given freely. Family Foods once more stepped forward to help by giving a break on the desserts. Hats off to all who helped bring warmth and joy to Heppner once again. Joanne Burleson Heppner American Legion & Auxiliary to meet Tuesday The American Legion and Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, January 11, at the Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will begin with a potluck meal. - THREE The Wildhorse Foundation recently awarded a grant in the amount of $3,540 to the Heppner High School drama de partment. HHS principal Dave Stone (left) and Drama Club sponsor Jodi Chapa (right), along with help from the Friends of Drama community group, applied for the grant. The grant funds, along with some funds from the Booster Club, will be used to purchase speakers and speaker stands, wireless head sets and microphones, a sound board, power snake, and two stage monitors. - Photo by Autumn Morgan Wahn The Umatilla County Soil and Water Con servation District (SWCD) Clean Water N eighbor hood (CWN) Program and Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District are partnering together to host a Small Acreage Workshop in Boardman at the Port of Morrow on January 6, Thursday night, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This workshop will include irrigation meth ods, weed, pest (West Nile), manure and com posting management, soils, DEQ groundwater and Nitrates and water quality R oundtable p re sentations will be about NRCS programs, Columbia RC & D programs, State of Oregon DEQ, Oregon Dept o f Ag, Um atilla County Weed Department, Morrow County Vector Control, Soil and Water Conservation District, OWEB grants and energy efficiency programs. The SWCD has brought together members o f our local Umatilla And Mor row community that are knowledgeable in one or more areas of water quality and conservation to provide expert advice for managing ones property in the best way possible for the health and welfare of our environ ment. The small acreage workshop will provide an opportunity to learn more about the different envi ronmentally sensitive man agement options including preventing the degradation of groundwater quality.
