C arm en’s favorite
part of the yard is a raised

Some o f the plants
found in their yard are car

Alberta Spruce, arborvitae,
fo rsythia, pink gladioli,
dianthus, daisies, Russian
Sage, spirea, azalea, mums,

Vegetables include
carrots, radishes, cucum

quantity of robust looking
bro cco li. C arm en raises
herbs to use in cooking, a
talent she has in addition to
her green thumb.
Their soil is good
w ith lots o f earthw orm s
and they haven’t needed to
fertilize much. Red rock
and river rock have been
hauled in to use for different
projects. A current project is
putting up a cyclone fence
in a side yard.
The H ealy’s have
been visited by w ildlife
such as deer and lots o f
birds including cranes. On
the tamer side is their ador

nie.
When asked what
advice they have for fellow
gardeners, both Jerry and
Carmen m entioned ‘a lot

ter gave them away; they
enjoy what they are doing
and their home and garden
show it.
