SIX - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, January 6,2010 Students learn about the importance of soil The Morrow Soil and W ater C onservation District held their annual conservation poster contest entitled “Dig-it! The Se crets o f Soil” with Morrow County Schools. This year’s theme emphasized the importance o f soils in your every day life. Almost all o f the min erals and nutrients we need for life, to nurture us, to help us grow, give us energy and keep us healthy come from fields, gardens, trees and pastures. The entire earth, every ecosystem , every living organism, is dependent upon soils. The ow ner w as contacted. -M CSO received a com plaint from a male subject in Heppner that he was being harassed by a park host about his camp ing spot. -MCSO deputy re ported that safety presenta tions for children had been scheduled. -M C SO received a request for information regarding child placement. -M CSO received report from an Irrigon sub ject that kids stand all over Columbia Road in Irrigon. The subject d id n ’t w ant contact, but was concerned about kids getting hit. -M CSO received request to assist an Oregon State Police trooper with a drug search in lone. -M C SO received report from a Lexington resident that he received a check that was denied be cause o f insufficient funds. The reporter talked to his attorney and was advised to make a report with the sheriffs office. -M C SO a rre ste d Paula L. Taylor, 53, on an Irrigon Justice Court war rant for Failure to Pay Fine/ Curfew Ordinance. She was also arrested on a Umatilla/ M orrow County Com m u nity Correction Detention warrant with no bail. She w as lodged at U m a tilla County Jail. -M CSO received report that a 78-year-old male was refusing to take his medications and refus ing to go to the doctor. The reporter wanted an ambu lance to assist in making him go. The granddaughter kept show ing up at the resid e n ce and threatening the new renters. -M CSO received report that a subject in Ir rigon was trying to pick up his 17-year-old daughter, however there was a cus tody dispute and the mother would not let the 17-year- old leave. -M CSO received re p o rt from a H ep p n e r woman received informa tion that a subject parked his bike in front o f her house and walked to her front walkway. -M CSO received report o f a three-vehicle motor vehicle accident with unknow n injuries on the on-ram p on 1-84, Board- man. Hermiston EMS was contacted. -M C SO received report that a grader was parked in the grocery store parking lot running and with the lights on. -MCSO deputy re ported he was flagged down and received a report that a male and female were yell ing and having an argument in Irrigon. The female left the residence. -Boardman Police Department received report o f a juvenile female missing in Boardman. The juvenile was last seen at 9 p.m. An officer responded and ad vised to send out an attempt to locate. -BPD cited Anto nio Cazarez Chavez, 38, for Driving Uninsured. He was also warned for defective equipm ent-passenger side headlight. -BPD cited Nestor Corona Banderas for Driv ing Uninsured. He was also warned for failure to obey a traffic control device-stop sign. \ -BPD cited Arturo Villalobos, 25, for No Op erator’s License, Driving O utside R estrictions and No CDL in a Commercial Vehicle. -BPD, Boardm an Ambulance received report o f a subject who had been ill and then became incoherent and pale and nauseated. The subject was transported. -BPD o fficer re ported he was en route to Pet Rescue with three cats. -BPD received re port of a male subject who kept jumping into the lane o f travel. He was advised to stay on the sidewalk. -BPD cited Jason Dean W eber for D riving While Suspended-violation and Failure to Obey a Traf fic Control Device. - I r r ig o n A m b u lance received report o f a female in pain from a previ ous dog bite. She had been on antibiotics for an infec tion. The patient refused transport. - lo n e EM S r e ceived report o f a person who had fallen in the re stroom. There was no in jury, but a subject needed assistan ce in liftin g the person, lone A m bulance responded. September 17: MCSO received a request for assistance in delivering a death notice to a family in Heppner. -M CSO received report o f suspicious cir cum stances in Lexington w ith a gate open that is usually locked. The sub ject advised there was no damage to the gate and no vehicles or people around and suspected that they had forgotten to close it. -M C S O d e p u ty transported a subject from St. Charles in Bend to Hep pner Circuit Court and back to Bend if commitment was ordered by court. -M C S O , Irrig o n Ambulance received report from an Irrigon w om an that her husband, who was almost 90, fell out of bed and she and her neighbor c a n ’t get him up. It was unknown if he had injuries because of the severe pain he always experiences. A deputy responded to assist. -MCSO deputy re ported he was with a subject who was camping on Hwy. 206, Heppner. -M C S O a rre ste d John Melvin Healy, 54, on a w arrant for C ontem pt/ Failure to Complete Com m unity Service. He was released on his own recog nizance. -M C S O d e p u ty transported a prisoner to court and back. -M C SO sergeant advised he handled a park ing issue while on another call in Lexington. -MCSO served an Irrigon Justice Court war rant to M ark Kyle Shea, 20, for Criminal Mischief, Criminal Trespass II. -M C SO received report o f a white calf run ning down the middle o f th e ro ad on Hwy. 206- Heppner. -M C SO received report from Oregon State Police o f a vehicle in the Salem area registered to Morrow County that is tail- gating and speeding. -M C SO received report o f a missing or sto len camera from an Irrigon residence. -M C SO received re p o rt from a H ep p n er woman that she had been getting calls with no one on the other end for the past four days. A deputy made contact and advised her of her options. -M C SO received report o f six kids in a ve hicle leaving Heppner High School and one was sitting on the lap o f another. A 17-year-old was cited for No Operator’s License and D riv in g O u tsid e P ro v i sions. -M C SO received request for deputy co n tact at an Irrigon residence concerning loud music. A deputy made contact. -M C SO received report that the driver and passenger in a Volkswagen Jetta were drinking bottles o f beer on Hwy. 730 leaving Umatilla. A deputy did not observe any beer drinking and did not have probable cause for a stop. -M C SO received request for an emergency number for Morrow County Grain Growers. A Schwan’s Truck driver had run out of propane and needed some fuel. A MCGG employee was en route to help. t -M C SO received request for contact from an Irrigon woman regarding her juvenile who needed fingerprinting. -M C S O d e p u ty made contact with a con struction company concern ing someone turning on a scraper at night in Irrigon. -M C SO received report o f vehicles unlaw fully parked in Heppner. -M C SO received a rep o rt from a B oard- man subject that his wife called him and told him she was on Wilson Rd. and hit something, but she did not know what. The reporter went to the scene and ad vised it was a deer and it was on the side o f the road. A deputy assisted. -M C SO received report from a Heppner sub ject that a person was ha rassing him. -M C S O d e p u ty re p o rte d he w as d o in g transport for the Umatilla C ounty S h e riff’s O ffice from the Pendleton Round- Up to the jail. -M C SO received report from a subject in Heppner that when he an swered his door, juveniles threw g rav el at him . A deputy responded to inves tigate. -Boardman Police Department officer reported he was out with a semi and warned the driver for park ing on a street posted for no trucks. -BPD cited Gabriel R. Gonzalez Bautista, 32, for No Operator’s License/ D riving O utside R estric tions, No CDL or endorse ments. He was also warned for failure to dim his lights/ no high beam indicator. -B PD officer re ported he was w ith a subject who wanted to report crimi nal m ischief with a vehicle keyed in the Lamb Weston parking lot. -BPD received re port from a subject who said someone had kicked in his fence the previous night and stole items from his yard. An officer made contact, but the reporter was unsure o f what action they want to take. The subject said he would contact BPD at a later date. -BPD received a report o f a suspicious ve hicle in the area of Tatone St. around lunchtime. -BPD received re port from a Boardman sub ject that his wife had medi cal marijuana and someone kicked in the fence and took the plant the previous night. -BPD received re port o f m ale subjects in a white or cream colored vehicle who w ere doing something in the parking lot of the Trail Apartments. The reporter said the sub jects told her that nothing was going on and told her to get in her house, then sped away. She suspected drug activity. -BPD reported he was out with a citizen as sisting with bicycle light ing so the rider could get home. -H eppner A m bu lance received report from a subject that his grand mother was talking to him on the phone and they sus pected she was having a stroke. Heppner Ambulance responded, but there was no transport. September 18: Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received report o f a panic alarm at the court house in Heppner. It was a false alarm. The janitors set it off. -M C S O d e p u ty made contact with a subject who possibly threw his lit cigarette out the window. It could not be determined whether the cigarette came from that vehicle or not. -M C S O d e p u ty m ade contact with three females at the park in Hep pner. MCSO cited Kaylee Rae Lemmon, 18, for MIP by C onsum ption w ith a BAC o f .007, and Kelsie Wain Fox, 19, for MIP by Consumption with a BAC o f .093. -M CSO received tw o 911 h a n g -u p /a b an - doned calls from the Front age Rd. area. -M C SO received a request for a report and crash photos from a Sep tem ber 9 incid en t from the U.S. D epartm ent o f Transportation's National H ighw ay T raffic Safety Administration in Washing ton, D.C. -Continued on Page EIGHT
