FO U R - Heppner G azette-Tim es, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, November 11, 2009 Community Bank food drive challenges communities This year Commu nity Bank is conducting a Food Drive Challenge in all of their 17 branches. The goal is to collect 30 bins of food (32 gallon bins) com bined in all the branches during the months of No vem ber and Decem ber. If this goal is met. Com munity Bank is donating a whole beef ($2,000 value) to the area where the most food was collected. In ad dition to the beef, the bank w ill donate $25 for each bin that is filled to that area’s food bank. In past years the bank has been doing a Pen ny Drive to raise money for local charities. Normally the funds go to the food banks any way, so this year the Food Drive Challenge was created. Each branch has a bin in their lobby where non-perishable food is collected. There is also a Food Drive Tracking Chart so you can see where your branch is at, and how well the bank, as-a-w hole, is per forming towards the goal. November is usual ly one of the hardest months for the food bank to fulfill the demand from area fami lies. As a bin is filled, the items are delivered to the food bank right away, help ing families through the holiday months. The food drive continues through December 31. On January 1 the winning area will be announced. After one week, the Pendleton branch is in the lead with five bins filled, with La G rande’s Valley branch at three bins. To ensure your area is awarded the whole beef, donate to the local branch in your area.
