EIGHT - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, October 28,2009 Love’s requests extension on sale of tower road property T he B o a rd m a n City Council was notified Tuesday night o f L ove’s Travel Stop’s intention to exercise its first extension option w ith the city for the purchase o f approximately 30 acres o f city property lo cated on T ow er R oad near Boardman. The sales agreement to purchase the property expired on O c tober 14, 2009, but has an option w hich allows for two 45-day extensions. Love’s plans to build a travel stop on the property and is cur rently working on their pre liminary site approvals. L o v e ’s T r a v e l Stops & Country Stores is headquartered in Oklahoma City, OK and has been in business since 1964. If the project proceeds as planned, this would be Love’s third such project in O regon, adding to the over 200 na tionwide. In other city news, councilors approved a reso lution in support o f apply ing for a D epartm ent o f Land C o n se rv atio n and D ev elo p m en t T echnical Assistance Grant. The grant will be used by the city to perform an Economic Op portunity Analysis. Also, councilors set the date for a Strategic Plan Town Hall meeting of November 19 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. This is an opportunity for the communities’ input on the future direction o f the city. The next regularly scheduled meeting o f the Boardman City Council is Tuesday, November 3, at 7 p.m. at Boardman City Hall. lone homecoming king,queen crowned Parent Teacher Club to host annual School Carnival at HES The Heppner Elementary Parent Teacher Club will be hosting their annual School Carnival on October 29 at Heppner Elementary School. The carnival games will be available from 6-7 p.m. and dinner will be served from 5:30-7 p.m. They will be serving all-you-can-eat hot dogs, chili, or baked potato for $5 per adult and $3 per child. No one was home, but an officer left a card for them to make contact. -B P D r e c e iv e d rep o rt that ow ners o f a residence were throw ing tum blew eeds from their backyard into the street. The subject said he was trying to clean up his prop erty and went down to the end o f the street to let the tum blew eeds go so they would blow into an open field, but the wind blew the w rong direction and the tumbleweeds went into the road and all over the prop erty. He said they would burn the weeds when the bum ban is listed. -BPD received re port o f a disturbance on K incade w ith a w om an screaming and a man run ning to his van. BPD re sponded and determined the subjects were just teasing each other and it was not a disturbance. -B o a rd m a n F ire D epartm ent received re port of a large amount of smoke in the Root Lane, M eadow Loop area. The fire chief sent someone to check it out. -BPD, Boardm an Ambulance received report that a male fell to the floor and needed assistance get ting up. He was conscious and alert. -lone Em ergency Services received report of a highly intoxicated male. The lone Am bulance re sponded and assisted. -IMS received re quest for assistance from an lone man who at first hydrated. -H eppner A m bu lance reported they were on standby for slack at the Morrow County Fair grounds. August 7: Morrow C ounty S h e riff’s O ffice received request for code enforcem ent. Units were not’available. -M C SO received re p o rt from an Irrig o n woman that a dead crow was found in her yard. Vec tor Control and the Morrow County Health District were contacted. -M C SO received re p o rt from a H e p p n e r business that a subject has been calling their Bend and Klamath Falls offices and harassing their employees. The caller did not want the deputy to contact the sub ject as she believed it would make it worse. -M CSO received report o f a suicide threat. -M CSO received report that Hermiston Po lice D epartm ent arrested Zakary Kelly Peterson, 22, on a warrant for Failure to Pay Fine/Possession o f a Controlled Substance-Less Than One Ounce o f Mari juana. He was lodged at Umatilla County Jail with $505 bail. -M CSO received re p o rt o f an u n d e ra g e m ale in to x ic a te d at the fairgrounds in H eppner. Deputies were unable to locate anyone. -MCSO received a noise complaint in Irrigon with loud music. Fifty-two alumni of lone High School were in ducted into the hall of fame. The inductees attended lone High School from 1922 to 1960 and were honored as scholar athletes. Many fam ily members were present to accept awards on behalf of deceased honorees. Other honorees traveled from all over the west coast in or der to receive their awards. There were over 250 people present for the dinner and ceremony. Betty Gray, Boost er Club m em ber and di rector, who headed up the charge to m ake sure this event happened, said that she hopes the dinner will become a yearly tradition. She said he continued to stand around the restroom, then after about 10 minutes a female subject got in the car w ith him. He was cited and released with $10,000 bail. -MCSO received a request from an lone man that he needed help getting out o f his chair. A deputy responded to help. -lone Fire Depart ment received a report of a fire on Baseline. Xhç patient refused trans port. -H eppner A m bu lance reported they were out at the fairgrounds for the rodeo. -Boardman Police Department officer reported he was out with a female inside a vehicle which was in reverse and would not m ove. T he fem a le w as fine. -BPD received re port from a subject that approxim ately five ju v e niles were in the back o f a residence. -B o a rd m a n A m bulance received a request for mutual aid for Arlington concerning a female who was having trouble breath ing. August 8: Morrow County Sheriff’s Office re ceived report that bicyclists will be in Heppner and w ill be parking their cars at the school and sleeping in the high school gym. -MCSO cited Kel ley Lee Nickolsen, 34, for Careless Driving. -MCSO cited Ran dy Neil Farmer-ray, 21, was cited for Speeding, 73 mph in a 55 mph zone, and Driv ing While Suspended. -M CSO received report from a real estate agent who is selling a house that no one should be liv ing in the house. He said he received a report that someone was living in the house and possibly remov ing items from the property. MCSO trespassed two peo ple from the property. -M C SO received report from a female in lone that she was trying to move out o f her g ran d fa th e r's house, but every time she tries to go in, he starts yell ing and sw earing at her. She asked for assistance in getting her items out of the residence. MCSO advised her that they were not able to assist her without a court order. -Continued on Page TEN t
