The offense was “a beautiful thing to watch” in the first quarter in the words o f Coach Dennis Stefani as the Cardinals made shreds o f the Rocket press on their way to scoring 24 points. The Cards had their biggest lead o f the game at 29-21 early in the second after Matt Hams canned a three and Clay M orter hit two free throws with just under a minute gone. But Matt Hams was w histled for foul num ber three with 1:14 left in the h a lf and C ory P eterso n picked up his third shortly thereafter. With both play- ers having to sit, Pilot Rock went on a 20-3 run that put them up 41-32 at the half. Foul trouble con- tinued to be a factor as C lay M orter w as called for fouls three and four in the third quarter and Matt Hams fouled out early in the fourth. W ith all five Pilot Rock starters scoring in double figures and foul trouble taking its toll, the Cardinals couldn’t maintain their early pace, Matt Hams led the team in scoring w ith 26 points. Zac Orem added 11 and Alex Fetterhoff had six. The Cards shot a respectable 33.9% on 20 o f 59 from the field. They went to the line just nine times, hitting six while the Rockets shot 22 free throws and made 13.
