Lady Cards split weekend games
The lone Lady Car­
dinals split their games over
the weekend, scratching out
a tough w in over Arlington
in lone on Friday and fall­
ing to Helix on the road on
Saturday.
A strong third quar­
ter was the difference in
the Arlington game played

16-14 at halftime, the Lady
Cards outscored Arlington
13-1 to build a 29-15 lead
entering the final fram e.

lead to 10. After Brenna Ri-
etmann hit two free throws

a shot, the lone lead was
stretched to 14.
In the fourth quarter,
the Lady C ards kept the

ing the lead to 18 points
before Arlington mustered
eight unansw ered points,
closing the lead to 10. lone
responded w ith a 9-1 run to
close the game and seal the
44-26 win.

cut the Grizzlies lead to five
points, 18-13. However, He­
lix finished the quarter with
a 10-0 run to make it a 28-13
halftime score.

half, connecting on three of
their five three-pointers and
walking away from lone,
w inning the game 63-28.

Varsity girls follow JV lead and take
wins over Stanfield and Enterprise

The v a rsity g irls
took the lead from the start
against Stanfield and never
let it go.
In the first quarter
the girls held a 10 point lead
and followed in the second
quarter with a seven point
lead, putting the half-time
score at 18 to 11.
The girls came out
strong in the third quarter to
score twice as many points
as the Stanfield Tigers, tak­
ing the score to 33-18. With
a strong fourth quarter the
girls continued there lead
by 14 and ended the game
43 to 29.
Megan Orr led the
girls to victory with 15
points, Katie Kilkenny had
nine for the night, Torrie
Lovgren scored five and
Brynna Rust and Kylie Do­
herty scored four each. Erin
Price and Kristen VanCleave
each scored two w ith Taylor
Kempas and Jessica Hughes
each scoring one point.
The varsity girls
showed on Saturday that
they could play strong two
nights in a row. The girls
scored 16 points to Enter­
prise’s eight by the end of
the first quarter. And like
the night before never let
up there lead ending the first
and Brenna Rietmann each
had four.

Outlaws scored 18 points in
the fourth it wasn't enough
to take the lead away from
the Mustangs, leaving the
final score 59 to 44.

ten VanCleave scored 15,
and Katie K ilkenny fol­
lowed with 11 points. Kylie
Doherty scored six, Taylor
Kempas, Catherine McEl-
ligott each scored two and
Jessica Hughes scored one
for the night.

“It was a very physi­
cal game,” said Coach Jim
Swanson. "I was proud that
they came from 10 points
down and almost won. Our
last five or six free throws
would not fall.” He noted
that the team had ju st 16
turnovers and over 40 re­
bounds. He com m ended
