The lone boys’ var sity notched two league wins over the weekend, downing Condon-Wheeler in lone on Friday night and defeating Cascade Locks on the road on Saturday. The w ins move the team ’s league mark to 3-1 in Big Sky Conference play and 7-5 overall. Five players in dou ble figures provided the w inning com bination for the C ardinals against the perennially tough Condon- Wheeler team. The Cards jumped out to an early 7-0 first quarter lead before the K nig h ts re sp o n d ed . Three three-pointers in the quarter kept the Knights in the game. A Cory Peterson three-pointer at the buzzer put the Cardinals up 24-19 after one. The Knights went on a 5-0 run to open the sec ond quarter tying the game at 24. With two and half minutes gone in the period, Alan Rietmann finally got the Cardinals on the board when he drove for two. The K nights pulled ahead for their only lead o f the game midway through the second quarter, 31-30, but the Car dinals had a 10-0 run as an answer, a scoring bonanza that included back-to-back threes by Alan Rietmann and Paul Hams. lone went to the locker room at halftime sitting on a 40-31 lead. With two m inutes remaining in the third quar ter, lone had their biggest lead o f the game with a 15 point spread. The quarter ended w ith lone leading 55-42. The game was no where near won though. The Knights battled back in the fourth quarter, closing to within six points on a huge three point shot, with 1:30 left on the clock. The Car dinals were not to be denied however. They responded w ith ten unanswered points in the last 1:20 to take the 75-59 win. “Team play was the d iffe re n c e ,” said C oach Dennis Stefani, pointing to the fact that all five starters were in double figures and the team had 23 assists in the game. “This may have been one o f our best per formances as a team so far this year.” Alan Rietmann led the team in scoring with 19 points. Paul Hams had 16, Clay Morter had 14 and Kip Krebs and Justin Archer had 10 each. Paul Hams had a double double with a whopping 10 assists to com plement his points. Clay M orter also had a double double with 10 rebounds. Justin Archer led the team w ith four steals. The Cards had one of their better shooting nights, hitting 55% from the field and 55% from behind the three point line. Murray’s Drug I
