The Heppner Garden Club recently sponsored
contests for youth.
Heppner Elementary students stepped up to the
challenge of a poetry contest. The theme for this contest
was Nature and Me. Seventeen first graders entered the
contest. Forty-one fifth and sixth graders not only entered
the poetry contest, but illustrated them also.

visited the Heppner Neighborhood Center with donations in
hand. The students brought canned food that they collected to
be put in the Christmas boxes being distributed by the Center.
Sixty-six boxes will be delivered on December 20.
Mid-Columbia Bus Company donated the driver and the bus
for the trip to the Neighborhood Center.
