The Oregon Econom ic and Community
Development Department (OECDD) awarded the Port of
Morrow a $2 million loan and $50(),(XX) grant in February
to help fund the East Beach Infrastructure Project. Port
Manager Gary Neal said the funding w ill be used to extend
water, wastewater and sanitary lines into the East Beach
Industrial Park, clearing the way for development of the
site. The Port is in final discussions with several businesses
interested in locating at the site, Neal said.
“This investment by the state and the Port will
directly lead to new jobs for our people in our region,”
Neal added.
The total cost of the project is $2.864.353, including
$364,353 provided by the Port. The work is scheduled for
completion by the end of May. For further information about

and campground mainte
nance.” said Tom Mafera,
Heppner District Ranger.
The eight-week pro
gram begins June 25, 2007
and ends August 17. 2007.
Participants will be paid the
current Oregon minimum
wage per hour.
Applications will be
accepted from Thursday,
March 22, through 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, April 18. Partic
ipants will be selected on a
random basis on April 18 at
4 p.m.
No previous experi
ence is required. Applicants
must be 15 years old and not
reach age 19 during the term
of employment in the pro
gram, and have a social se
curity number, or have made
application to obtain one.
Applicants must also obtain
parental or legal guardian
consent to enroll in the pro
gram.
Applicants must be
able to provide transporta
tion to and from the Hepp
ner District Office. The For
est Service will provide
transportation from the Dis
trict Office to the Field work
site. Applications may be

watercress sandwiches, fresh

homemade curd, clotted
cream, dessert, tea, and
coffee.
Red Hat Rowdies is
