From the get-go, the Cards seemed determined to not let Nixyawii get away. At the end of one, lone trailed by just tw o, 11-13 and at the half, the Cards were down three, 22-25. Both team s scored 14 in the third sending them into the stretch w ith the G olden Eagles leading 39-36. Clay Morter grabbed the rebound of the second shot and was fouled as he went back up, sending him to the line with 4 seconds on the clock. He hit the first of two, which turned out to be the game winning point as the Golden Eagles didn't get a good shot off in the time remaining. Clay Morter led the team in scoring with 20 points, on 9 of 13 shooting from the floor. Matt Hams added 14 and Kip Krebs had ten. On S atu rd ay at Helix, nothing seemed to go right for the Cardinals as they fell behind early and could never find the intensity and emotion shown the night before. The Cards trailed 4- 14 after one and 14-23 at the half. Helix ran off a 26 point third quarter to put the game out of reach for lone. The final score was 37-68. "I think we played ourselves out mentally on Friday night. We are a young team and are going to have to learn to appear the next night after a huge win. The physical effort was there but without the mental game, the wheels fell off." He did note that Helix did a good job being patient on offense, getting a shot off almost every trip down the floor.
