Community Caroling -Saturday, December 9-Community caroling, lead by Pastor Keith Brudevold of the H eppner U nited Methodist Church, will begin with practice at 3:30 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, with caroling to begin at 4 p.m. Carolers will tour the town by vehicle and will stop at the Willow Valley Assisted Living and other locations. Cookies and hot drinks will be served at the church following the caroling. Legion and Auxiliary to hold Christmas party American Legion and Auxiliary will hold their Christmas Party on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick's Senior Center in Heppner. Interested persons may bring a plate of their favorite snack food, along with a wrapped gift not to exceed $5 for a gift exchange. Men may bring a man's gift, and women, a woman's gift. All members are invited to attend and join in on an afternoon of fun. The e x h ib itio n season is o v er fo r the Heppner wrestling team as the M ustangs traveled to participate in the Umatilla In v itatio n a l on Dec. 2. Medals were up for grabs and the M ustangs w ere ready to stake their claim. The 3A Umatilla Vikings played host to the 3 A R iv ersid e P irates (B oardm an), 2A Irrigon K nights, 1A Sherm an County Huskies (Moro), and the 2A Heppner Mustangs. The Pirates claimed the team trophy, with 156 p o in ts, follow ed by the Knights (141.5), Vikings (122), Mustangs (45) and the Huskies (41). H eppner’s Chance Day (145) claimed gold in pinning his opponent in the second round from Umatilla. Dillon Lutcher (130) claimed third by pinning a Pirate in the second round. Tomas Elguezabal (140) took home hardware for third. Spencer Palmer (171) pinned a Pirate in the first round for another third place. R ounding out the squad that participated at “ The P it” was Tyler Robinson (125) and Matt Holland (160). The next match will be T hursday, Dec. 7, at Boardman.
