His contributions are tangible by-products of his passion for potatoes and the science that su rro u n d s th e ir production. M artin has been in stru m e n ta l in the development and naming of several po tato v a rieties, p a rtic u la rly the R anger R usset. D esp ite early in d ic a tio n s o f sev ere blackspot bruising, Martin saw the processing potential o f R anger and h elp ed introduce this now popular variety to the industry. Since the inception of the Tri-State and Regional Potato Variety Development programs, he has been an involved and vocal industry participant. Locally.
