Deadline for applications is Nov 15, 2006. The Fair and OTPR is also looking for a ch ap ero n e for the 2007 Court. The chaperone would be resp o n sib le for all a c tiv itie s o f the co u rt, getting pennant bearers, arranging at least four grand entry practices before Fair and Rodeo, the conduct and appearance of the court, o rd erin g the o u tfits, providing a 8-inch by 10- inch photo of the court, bi monthly reports to the Fair and open com m unication with everyone involved. The Fair Board would prefer the ch ap ero n e not be an immediate family member. Application deadline is Nov. 15. Lester T. W yman, 88, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT, following a short illness At his request, no service will be held and his cremains will be disbursed in the beautiful mountains of Eastern Oregon. He was bom Jan. 14, 1918 in G rass Valley to Madge and Thomas Wyman. He was raised and attended school in Prineville where he graduated from high school. He then entered the United States Army, serving in Italy during World War II. Upon returning to the United States he spent many years in the Heppner and Ukiah area. For a time, he owned and operated a wheat treating business and then worked for a number of years for the US Forest Service. He spent many hours on horseback riding the reserv e m onitoring grazing and forest management needs. Wyman retired and returned to the Prineville area. In 1986, he reunited w ith his high school sweetheart and they were married filling the last 20 years of his life with love and adventure. The couple lived in southern O regon until April of this year when they moved to Midway, Utah. He was a lifetim e member of the Heppner Elks Lodge #358. Survivors include his w ife V ivian W yman o f M idw ay, UT; ch ild re n , Sheridan Tamasky and her husband Ed o f Heppner, Butch Laughlin and his wife Judie o f H eppner, Tom Wyman of Reno, NV and C heri M urphy and her husband Dennis of Midway, UT; grandchildren, A.J. Tamasky and Alecia Angell, L ottie H olcom b, Shane L aughlin and Tamie B erthold; g re a t grandchildren, Grace and Jack Tamasky; and brother, Robert Wyman of Redmond. Peggy Jo Rice Peggy Jo Rice, 67, of Herm iston, died Oct. 18, 2006, at her home. A funeral service w ill be held on Sunday, O ct. 29, 2006 at 1 p.m . at Peggy Jo Rice Burns M ortuary C hapel in H erm isto n . B urial will follow at the H erm iston Cemetery. She w as born on Feb. 27, 1939 in Memphis, TN to parents, Oscar and Juanita Kirkaly Dixon. She was raised and attended school in Redding, CA. She m oved to Portland and on Sept. 27, 1957, she m arried Don Body. They had tw o children, a son. Randy and a d au g h ter, D arla. T hey moved to Pendleton in 1964 and later to Umatilla in 1976 before divorcing in 1982. She married Robert "Bob” Rice on Aug. 6, 1983 in Reno, N V. They continued to live in the Hermiston area and Peggy Jo worked first for Inland Empire Bank for 10 years and later for US Bank for nine years in customer service until her retirement. Rice was a member of the First Christian Church in Hermiston and the Square Knots square dancing group. She enjoyed traveling, her family, church activities, cam p in g , sh o p p in g and wintering in Arizona. Survivors include her son. Randy Body and his wife Kelly, of Mansfield, TX; daughter, Darla Vandever and her husband Joe, of lone; three g ra n d d a u g h ters, Ashley, Teonna and Darby; and num erous step - g ran d ch ild ren and step- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband. Bob in 1998 and sister, Jean Bruck. Those who wish may make contributions in Rice's memory to the American Cancer Society at 7325 W. Clarkson Charles Rees Jr. C lark so n C h arles Rees Jr., 77, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at his home. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, at 7620 S.E. 262nd A ve., in Gresham. Disposition was by cremation. Rees was bom July 29, 1929, in V eneta, to Clarkson Charles and Orpha Dorthula Shelton Rees Sr. He was raised in Veneta and Redmond before m oving to N orthern California. He was a long- haul truck driver until he retired in 1986. On June 18, 1981, he married Margie Farwell in Stateline. NV. They worked as firewatchers on Mount H ood. T hey m oved to B oardm an in 1992 and continued to work the fire watch. Rees enjoyed buying and trading cars and camping with his family. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Terri Lynn Lehman of Longview. WA, Teresa Farwell Harrison of Lacey, WA. and Kelly Stone of Areata, CA; sons, Charles Clinton Rees of Gresham, C lark so n Ray R ees o f Portland. Ronald Richard Rees of Pendleton, Richard Albert Farwell of Portland and David Oregon Farwell of Gresham; sister, Lenora Holidy of Shasta Lake, CA; brother. Clifford Ray Rees of Desert Hot Springs, CA; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great g ran d ch ild ren . He was preceded in death by his parents and by sisters, Mae A lberts and T helm a McElyea.
