$ 1 (KH) seed money. It has received donations in the amount
of $500. The fund has been used to help eight to nine people
with their utility bills. On average, the help extended is
about $ 1 (X) per approved applicant. There is an application
process that screens applicants so that only those in genuine
dire need receive the money. The fund is currently at about
$900. Anyone interested in donating to this fund needs to
contact City Hall at 111 N. Main Street. Heppner or call
676-9618.
The city would also like to bring to the attention of
loggers/truck drivers that Ordinance 558-06. which just
passed in May 2006 stipulates that trucks driven to a
residence for minor repairs or to be parked, are to be parked
off-street. Please be courteous to your neighbors and abide
by the ordinance (you can be cited if necessary).
When a person resides in a city, he/she agrees that
there is necessarily some “give and take" in respecting the
rights of others and perhaps at times voluntarily not insisting
on our rights for the benefit of others.
