As I sympathize with those in our county that need work. The Constitution of Oregon should not be bent, twisted or manipulated by our local government in the name of creating jobs. This speedway project is purely governm ent pledging its credit and taxing power to a private enterprise. Let them gain their own financing- like every o th er b u sin ess in Oregon. The constitution of Oregon protects your rights. Protect it, by voting no. It’s wrong whether it affects you or not. (s) Jim and Kelly Doherty Boardman Grieb expresses why he wants to be commissioner To the Editor: To the Citizens of Morrow County: I have had many people ask me why I want to be a co m m issioner. I sim ply tell them , “ I t’s because 1 like to help people solve problems.” The county commission position would allow me to take many of my past leadership experiences and use them to make a positive difference for the citizens of Morrow County. I have been involved in every community within our county in one way or another and I have built relationships that would give me an excellent opportunity to help this county grow and prosper. I b eliev e in co m m u n ity serv ice and economic development- so I am a member of the Willow C reek E conom ic D evelopm ent G roup, the lone C om m unity A gri- B usiness O rg an izatio n (ICABO) and the Chambers o f Com m erce o f Irrigon, Boardman and Heppner. In my work with the O regon W heat G row ers League and serving as that organizations state president in 2003, I gained extensive ex p erien ce dealing with policy issues, budgets and decision making. Morrow County is not that far away from Salem or Washington D.C. when you think of all the state and federal m andates we are expected to comply with. I have lobbied these agencies and policy makers as well as testified at state and federal hearings. I understand that process and know what it takes to get results from those efforts. I also understand the political process. Politics is about building relationships and coalitions in order to get things accomplished. I have the qualities necessary to build and strengthen those re la tio n sh ip s for the I To the Editor: Ann Spicer has over 28 y ears o f e x p erien c e working as an attorney, all of those y ears in M orrow County. During this time, she has worked in the areas of crim in al p ro se cu tio n , defense, family law, divorce, child custody and general practice. Ann has been active in v ario u s co m m u n ity serv ice o rg a n iz a tio n s, including volunteer work on St. Patrick’s Day and serving as a board m em ber and chairperson of the Oregon Trail Library District. Given that Ann has raised h er ch ild re n in Morrow County, lived in Morrow County for 28 years and has been active in the com m unity, she has first hand k n o w led g e o f the issues facing our county. Her experience is well rounded and this will be beneficial to her and us as a judge. She has proven herself over time to be a p erson o f high integrity. Ann will listen to all discussions presented and her decisions will be based upon fa irn e ss and impartiality. Please join us in voting yes for Ann Spicer, (s) Barney and Kimberly Lindsay Lexington Brauerhas expertise for judge To the Editor: P lease vote for C h risto p h e r B rauer for C ircu it C o u rt Ju d g e, Position 5, U m atilla and Morrow counties on May 16. Brauer has the legal expertise in both criminal and civ il law to be an outstanding judge. He has been professional and fair, yet tough on crime in his current position as Umatilla County District Attorney. Brauer has been elected and re-elected by the public over his 11-year tenure as DA. Certainly that record speaks for the excellent job he has done for the public. Additionally, Christopher Brauer is the only candidate endorsed by all four circuit court judges in U m atilla and M orrow counties. A qualification no other candidate can claim. Please jo in me in voting for C h risto p h e r Brauer for C ircuit C ourt Judge, Position 5, Umatilla and M orrow counties on May 16.
