Heppner to celebrate the
National Day of Prayer
Everyone is invited to a half-hour prayer meeting
for the Heppner community to celebrate the National Day
of Prayer. It will be from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.. on Thursday,
May 4 at City Hall in the meeting area.
Prayer topics include our schools, military, town
and churches. Specific requests will be taken. Please write
requests out on a note card and bring them to the meeting.
No one will be required to pray aloud or in public.
The National Day of Prayer has been a federally
recognized holiday for 54 years. It was enacted by President
Truman and a joint effort of Congress in 1952. Thousands
of community across the country will be holding special
services to celebrate the religious freedoms our veterans
fought and died for.
This meeting is a Christian meeting, though all
people of all faiths are encouraged to meet and prayer
annually on the National Day of Prayer.
