Brubeck Brothers Quartet include members Dan Brubeck
on drums, Chris Brubeck on trombone and base, Mike
DeMiceo, guitarist, and Chuck Lamb on keyboard.
The Hermiston Desert Arts Council will present
the Brubeck Brothers Quartet in a concert of traditional
and modem jazz at the Hermiston High School Performing
Arts Theater, 600 S. 1st, Hermiston. on Sunday, Jan. 22,
at 3 p.m.
The sons of jazz great Dave Brubeck. Dan on
drums and Chris on trombone and bass, have played
together since childhood, so add an inherited flair to their
spirited and flexible sound They are joined by guitarist
Mike DeMicco and Chuck Lamb on keyboards.
Said one review er. W inston Brooks o f the
Chattanooga Outlook. “Elements of rock, classical, blues,
funk, reggae and world music blended the quartet's
approach to contemporary jazz... The rhythmic drive
ranged from light brush-stroked drum work to turbulent
syncopated beats. And because one rarely hears a jazz
combo with a trombone and a Hammond organ, the sound
was unique."
All of the quartet members have toured worldwide.
Just last month they played in London with their father
and in Munich, then performed live on NPR during its
New Year’s Eve program.
Cost is adults $17.50, and children $7.50. Tickets are
available at the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce,
(541) 567-6151, and at the door.
