On December 21 st, Hope/Valby church volunteers
are hosts for the noon meal at the senior center. The menu
is roast beef, mashed potatoes with gravy, baked winter
squash, applesauce, hot rolls, juice and egg-nog. There may
be last m inute changes in the menu because o f the
availability of produce.
Decorations for the Christmas season are in place
in the common and dining areas. A Christmas get-together
of residents took place Monday afternoon, Dec. 6. The
apartment complex has welcomed two new residents in
recent weeks. One is Alberta Johannes, who has sold her
home in the area; the second is Kathy Turner, who has
moved to Heppner from Texas. We extend a warm welcome
to both. Kathy is responsible for the lovely grand piano,
which is now in the common room.
Recent examination of the roof revealed the need
for repairs around the perimeter of the building. The need
is at an urgent point. One resident has been moved to
another unit because of leakage.
The bus will not be scheduled for Walla Walla or
the Tri-Cities from January 1st until March 1. Ed Baker
has said to contact him if emergencies arise during this
time.
Activities at the center include Bingo Tuesday
evenings at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Friday afternoons at 1 p.m.
dominoes and cards are played in the common room.
