The H ep p n er RV Travel Group has completed an active sum m er travel season. The group made several trips to interesting re c re a tio n a l spots th ro u g h o u t O regon & Washington. In May the group traveled to Hood Park, WA. A Corp. of Engineer Park located at the mouth of the Snake River, SE of Pasco at a real nice park for 4 days of R&R. A ten day mystery trip took the group to southeastern Oregon, Steens M o u n tain s, W h iteh o rse Ranch, Silver City, Idaho, Owyhee Reservoir Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, U nity Lake, Sum pter, & home. A ugust found travelers at Elk Meadows lo cated in H u ck leb erry country on the southern base o f Mt. A dam s. Here p a rtic ip a n ts picked Huckleberries, toured the fo re ste d area along the W hite Salmon River, ate great pizza, drank huckleberry shakes, had a potluck, and rode bicycles on forest trails. September the group traveled to Leavenw orth, WA, where the group spend four days doing fall festival activities - watching street entertainm ent, shopping, attending a parade, eating (L-R) Maidens Lacey Thompson, Stacee Halvorsen and Julianne Carlson display their more ice cream, attending favorite books. potlucks, and telling stories around the campfires. The group enjoyed many new and fun places to explore. The mystery trip gave participants material for a great co llectio n of photographs and stories. Now for the most part the RV’s are put away for the winter and group members can reflect on their great time together. The winter months are spent planning for the next summer of adventure. 5th Quarter event planned at Heppner Elks; proceeds to fund reader board The Elks Club will soon have a new electric re a d e r board on th e ir building on Main Street in Heppner. The 5lh Quarter, a special function to help fund the reader board, will be held at the Elks on Saturday, N o v em b er 19, a fte r the Heppner High School home playoff game. The evening will include a salmon bake and ham dinner available for $15 each, beginning at 6:30 p.m., prize draw ings and entertainment by Dan Bums 3-D P ro d u ctio n s. The com m unity is invited to attend. The $8,000 reader board project will provide up to six or seven announcements of special community events, including notices of high school sports events. The fund raisin g effort is headed up by Josh and Melissa Coiner. Raffle tickets will be sold at the Elks. Prizes include a $675 Phoenix barbecue with non flare stainless convection, donated by Kenny Turner, a C ivil W ar re p lic a black powder pistol, and a one-day Do you hove pheasant hunt for two at the Todd Lindsay ranch. Raffle tickets are $2 each and six for $10. T he salm on was donated for the second year in a row by Keith Presky, a long-time hunter from the Portland area. Brandon Seitz graduates from boot cam Brandon graduated from boot camp on Oct. 21 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He is currently attending Technical School as a T echnical O rd in an ce A p p ren tice. Brandon will remain there until his training is complete in 3-4 months when he will be transferred to Langley AFB in Virginia. Brandon is a 2004 H ep p n er H igh School g rad u ate. L aR ue, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer at Bank o f E a s te rn O regon, has been namedto t h e Board of Directors o f Bank o f E a s te rn O re g o n and BEO Linda LaRue Bancorp, its holding company, at a recen t board m eeting according to Chairman of the Board, Ned Clark. “We are delighted to have Linda join the board. Linda has attended board meetings for some time as the Board Secretary and we have com e to value her insights and opinions in a variety of areas. Adding her to the board is a natural extension of the trust and confidence we have in her abilities,” said Clark. LaRue started her banking career in 1974 as a part time teller in the branch system . She has held a v ariety of p o sitio n s culminating with her being nam ed to h er c u rre n t position in the organization in 1996. She has been a leader in banking circles in Oregon for some time and was elected to the Oregon Bankers Association Hall of Fame in 2004. L aR ue, and h er h usband. D el, a re tire d educator, have lived in lone for the past 34 years. They have three grown children and nine grandchildren.
