will offer “Beginning Golf,”
a six-week, evening class,

class will run from 5:30-7
p.m ., each w eek. C raig
Holland will teach the class.
The class is intended
for people with little or no
golfing experience. It will
cover the rules, play and
e tiq u e tte o f the gam e.
Putting, chipping, pitching,
approaching, fairway shots
and teeing off will also be
covered.
Tuition for the class

Fossil Beds

The staff o f John
Day Fossil Beds National
M onum ent an n o u n ces a
change in hours. From Sept.
6 through the fall and winter,
the Thomas Condon Visitor
Center will be open daily
from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
On federal holidays from
Thanksgiving Day through
February, the center will be
closed. Throughout the rest
of the m onum ent, hiking
trails and overlooks will stay
open during daylight hours.

Club on Aug. 30 for ladies’ play.
Pat Edmundson took low gross of the field. Joanne
Barbee took low net of the Field. Luvilla Sonstegard and
Jackie Allstott tied for least putts of the field.
In flight A, Carol Hamilton took low gross; Jan
Paustian and Corol Mitchell tied for low net and Paustian
took KP; and Loa Henderson took least putts.
In flight B, Lynnea Sargent took low gross.
In flight C, Lorrene Montgomery took low gross,
Suzanne Jepsen took low net and Pat Dougherty took least
putts and Barbee took KP.
Montgomery had a chip in on hole #7 and Hamilton
had a birdie on hole # 1.

to bed. Judge Tallman lives

Cheryl’s Gardens, flowers,
vegetables and bulbs.
