vaccines

recently announced that the

will receive a $6,128,515
grant from the Centers for
D isease
C ontrol
Procurem ent and G rants
Office. The program slated
to receiv e fu n d in g is
Immunizations and Vaccines
for Children (VFC), which
supplies free vaccines for
immunizing eligible children
in p u b lic and p riv ate
p ra c tic e s at no c o st to
participating health care
p ro v id e rs. V accines for
C h ild ren aim s to help
Oregon reach its goal of
having 90 percent o f our
children up to date with their
immunization series by age
two.
“O regon ch ild ren
deserve every chance to lead
healthy, productive lives, and
childhood vaccinations are a
vital first step,” said Wyden.
“This federal grant will move

quality health care for every

DIY 4-H group meets

The main purpose
of the DIY Kids 4-H group
meeting on July 6 was to cut
out patterns for pajama pants
for each of the girls, and to
count the money they made
from selling lemonade and
sugar cookies during the
lone 4th of July celebration.
The group was trying to
raise money for a trip to an
alpaca farm to see a store
w here they sell knitting
supplies and string made
from alpaca fur. They ended
up m aking ju s t enough
money for the trip. They
m ade $ 1 08.50 from the
lemonade sales.
Afterward, they
ate their sack lunches and
discussed what competitions
they should do in the fair.
Since they are all juniors
(fourth and fifth graders)
they decided to do the easy
com petitions such as the
“Beginner Button Sewing
Competition.” Then they all
said their goodbyes and went
home.

St. Patrick’s
Senior Center
news
The
U nited
Methodist Church will host
the senior center Wednesday
noon meal on July 20. The
menu is barbecue on a bun,
corn, celery sticks, fresh
fruit, buns and pudding.
There will be a board
meeting at the St. Patrick’s
office at 12:30 p.m. the same
day.
