Lankford wins Sweetest
Proposal contest
Megan O r r and Josh Lankford
Josh Lankford won
the Heppner High School
“ S w eetest
P ro p o sa l”
com petition The couple
with the sweetest proposal
for asking their date to prom,
held April 30, w on free
tickets and earned credit
t6wa’rds pictures at prom
T eachers o f HHS
judged the competition and
made their decision based on
effo rt, o rig in ality and
sweetness.
To
win
the
co m p etitio n , L ankford
undertook four projects to
ask Megan Orr, his girlfriend
of six months, to the prom
The first three projects he
performed on April 7 and the
final one was completed on
April 8
First he changed the
school reader board located
on the highway to read,
“Megan will you go to prom
with me?”
He then made signs
with the words: “ Megan-
W ill-Y o u -G o -T o -P ro m -
With-Josh-?” that he posted
along the path from the high
school to the softball field
A fter those tw o
tasks, Lankford then put an
ad on Heppner T V. with a
picture o f him self and a
message again asking Megan
to go to prom with him
Finally, L ankford
called KORD 102.7, a radio
station in Tri-Cities, on April
8, and spoke w ith Paul
Drake, explaining to him
about the competition and
his wish to ask Orr to the
prom Drake recorded the
c o n serv atio n and told
Lankford to ask Orr to the
prom on the air Drake then
gave Lankford 20 minutes to
co n tact O rr and get her
listening to the radio
Lankford was able to reach
Orr who was shopping in the
Tri-Cities and told her “to
start listening to 102.7 and
w ait until she heard
something really awesome
before she stopped ” He then
called O rr’s mother and his
own mother so they could
hear the radio conversation
as well
In response to all of
Lankford’s hard work, Orr
answered his proposal by
putting an ad on Heppner
T V , stating, “Josh, YES,
Megan ”
