Donald Max Pike,
76, died Dec. 5, 2004, in
H erm iston at the G ood
Samaritan Center where he
lived for the last year
Disposition was by
cremation and no service will
be held upon his request The
family will hold a private
service at a later date.
Pike was born June
15, 1928 in Casper, WY to
Orvis A Pike and Evelyn L.
Taggart-Pike He attended
school in Casper He worked
at various jobs in Wyoming
In Terrebonne he was a
Telegram Delivery Boy and
then was a pinsetter in a
bowling alley in Alaska He
joined the Army on Nov. 25,
1950 and served in Korea
On May 7, 1955, he
married Barbara Geist in
C asper, WY. They first
resided in Boundurant, WY
w here he was Fence
Foreman on the Little Jennie
Ranch Later, they returned
to Casper where he worked
at the Standard Oil Refinery.
In 1969, they m oved to
Kinzua where they lived until
one year after the mill closed
They moved to Heppner in
1979. He w orked many
years for the M orrow
C ounty Public W orks
Department before he retired
in 1990 due to Parkinson’s.
He and wife, Barbara, were
Park Hosts at Cutsforth Park
from A ugust 1990 until
1998. They then moved to
the McNary area of Umatilla
in October o f 1999 to be
closer to their family.
Survivors include his
wife, Barbara, at home in
M cN ary -U m atilla;
his
daughter, Debby Van Meter-
Simpson o f Gresham; his
son, Lance Van Meter, and
his wife, Jeannie, who live in
Suplpa, OK; his daughter,
Patti Constantin and Bud
E nglert o f U m atilla; his
daughter, Gaylene Cazares,
and her husband, Ignacio,
and th e ir fam ily in
Vancouver, WA; his son,
Bruce Pike and his wife,
D ebbie o f P o rtlan d ; his
daughter, LuAnn Letcher
and her husband, Patrick and
their family in Gresham; his
brother, John; sister, Corky;
nine grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his
parents, O rvis Pike and
Evelyn Austin and by his
son-in-law, Roger Simpson
