T h ir te e n m em bers w ere present. The club finalized getting volunteers to make salads for the Crowell w edding on A pril 24. Salads should be taken to A rlynda G ate’s hom e on A pril 23 or taken directly to the wedding. A th le tic D ir e c to r D ean R o b in so n has b een w o rk in g w ith th e sc h o o l grounds committee and school board to design a fence to s u rr o u n d th e n e w tr a c k practice area. The project will need extra funding in order to m atch the school g ro u n d s fence. The club approved an a d d itio n a l $ 1 ,0 0 0 to g o toward that project. The club had p re v io u s ly a p p ro v e d $ 5 0 0 , fo r a to ta l c o s t o f $1,500. T he new W heatland I n s u r a n c e s ig n f o r th e g y m n a s iu m s h o u ld be com pleted this week and will be placed in the gym next to th e L e s S c h w a b s ig n . T he changes to the C a r d in a l B o o s te r C lu b scholarship were explained by secretary Jeri McElligott. The club had voted last spring to elim inate the financial need section of the scholarship and to simplify the format. Points were moved from the financial need to the community service section o f the application. Scholarships have been made available to qualifying seniors. C lu b m e m b e rs discussed designs for the 4th of July T-shirts. McElligott will work on a design similar to the rolling hills/w indm ill design used on one o f the original shirts The elementary staff is interested in doing the bike race d in n e r on M a y 7 a s a fundraiser. The club approved giving them that project. Barb C o llin w o u ld a p p re c ia te workers contacting her if they can help. T r a c k C o a c h D el L a R u e w ill n e e d h e lp sponsoring the high school track m eet at C ondon H igh School on Tuesday, M ay 4. The m eet begins at 4 p.m . Anyone who can help should call LaRue at 422-7468. It was noted the club d o n a te d a h a t to th e S t. Patrick’s auction in H eppner last month. T h ere w as som e discussion about redoing the high school gym floor and painting a cardinal on the outside o f the new elementary gym. but no action was taken. Dennis Stefani and LaRue will work on designs for the floor, should it need repainted A r ly n d a G a te s p r e s e n te d a p o s s ib le fundraiser from Teri Bennetto. She is looking for a group to do a barbecue d inner for the B o n n e v ille P ow er Administration in the Tri Cities on June 1. The club agreed it would be too difficult to handle a dinner at that time. C o n g re ssm a n G reg W alden (R -O R ) will begin accepting applications beginning this w eek for the House Page Program fall 2004 and spring 2005 sessions. The fall session will begin Sept. 5, 2004, and will conclude on Jan. 28, 2005. T he spring session will being Jan. 28, 2005 and will conclude on Ju n e 10, 2005. Additionally, summer program applicants may only serve as a page during the summer before or the summer following their junior year of high school. Applicants must provide their Social Security n u m b e r, s ig n e d p a re n ta l consent form, official transcript o f all high school grades to date, a 50-100 w ord essay explaining why they want to be a Republican Page, resume of extracurricular activities, and th re e le tte r s of recommendation. Bail was posted to the ju d g e and Taylor was released. -M C S O receiv ed a report from a caller in Irrigon o f an a tte m p te d th e f t o f gasoline from two pickups and an attem pted burglary at a residence. -M C S O receiv ed a request for a deputy contact fro m a c a lle r in I rr ig o n regarding her 13-year-old son being bossy and hitting her. -M C S O receiv ed a report from a caller on 1-84 eastbound m ilepost 153 that her pickup was out of gasoline and she had a four-month-old infant. The vehicle was off the r o a d . D e v in ’s T o w w a s contacted. -M C S O rec e iv e d a report o f an audible burglar alarm at a residence. It was d e te r m in e d th e a la rm malfunctioned. -M C S O receiv ed a report from a caller in Heppner that a neig h b o r’s residence was a possible fire/m ouse/rat h a z a r d . A d e p u ty w a s r e q u e s te d to c h e c k th e residence. -M C S O , H e p p n e r ambulance received a request for an ambulance from a caller at the St. P a tric k ’s S enior C e n te r in H e p p n e r fo r an elderly m ale who had fallen. The subject was conscious and sitting up. The patient w as t r a n s p o r te d to P io n e e r M e m o ria l H o s p ita l in Heppner. -M C S O d e p u ty re c e iv e d a re p o rt fro m a subject in Boardman regarding a theft that occurred earlier. -M C S O d e p u ty received a report from Action Towing that they had located precursors in a vehicle that had been im pounded by M CSO. -M C S O rec e iv e d a report from a caller in Irrigon that a dog had bitten her 12- year-old sort on his way home from school. -M CSO deputy cited M auricio M endoza-Sanchez, 20, for Violation o f the Basic Rule, 52 mph in a 35 mph zone and N o Insurance. -M C S O receiv ed a request for a deputy contact at th e P io n e e r M e m o ria l Hospital em ergency room in H eppner to investigate a dog bite. Classified, or want ads, run in the section near the back of the newspaper and are charged by the number of words in the ad. Business directory ads are boxed ads at a discounted rate. You must agree to run the ad unchanged (except for minor corrections) for a minimum of three months. Legal notices. The Gazette is the legal newspaper for various public entities and is able to satisfy publishing requirements for Morrow County. Letters to the Editor Letters to the Editor must be signed. The Gazette-Times will not publish unsigned letters. Please include your address and phone number on all letters for use by the G-T. The G-T reserves the right to edit.
