By Kasie Peterson T he lone and H eppner bow ling team s com peted at th e D i s tr i c t B o w lin g Tournam ent in Herm iston on S u n d a y , F e b . 15. T h e tournam ent lasted all day; it started at 8 a.m . and d id n ’t end until 6 p.m. Duane Neiffer, lone's bow ling coach, brought tw o b o y s’ team s and one g irls’ team. The bo y s’ varsity team consisted o f Jam es A cock, Johnny C ollin, Paul Neiffer, K yle P a lm a te e r an d B illy Ross. T hey m ade it to the sem ifinals and placed fifth o v e ra ll. T h e b o y s ’ ju n io r v a r s ity in c lu d e d A u s tin Arballo, Tim Doherty, Arthur Ekstrom , Taylor M cE lligott and Jason Zinter. They put in a great effort and placed eighth overall. T he first-ever lone g i r l s ’ te a m c o n s is te d o f B r ittn e e D e s B o u illo n s , Am anda Emery, Katie Hams, A m y J e p s e n a n d K a s ie Peterson. Kristal Temple was also a big part o f the girls' team b u t c o u l d n ’t b e a t th e tournam ent. The lone g irls’ team made it to the semifinals and also placed fifth overall. B rittnee D esB ouillons also a c h ie v e d a f o u r th p la c e individual all-star title for her outstanding bowling. Terry Lupinacci w as the H eppner bow ling coach and brought one b o y s’ team and one g irls ’ team to the district tournament. The boys’ team finished seventh. The g irls ’ team did a great jo b at semifinals, made it to finals and finished third overall. T he to p tw o b o y s ’ and girls' teams get to compete a t th e s ta te b o w lin g tournam ent in B eaverton on M arch 6 and 7. P endleton boys played a stellar fin al’s gam e o f 246 points to achieve their first place standing. One o f the Hermiston boys’ team s placed second. The Hermiston g irls’ team will go to state in first place and the Pendleton girls in second.
