Your c o m fo rtin g w ords, prayers and visits will always be remembered. A big thank you to those who sent memorials, flowers and food, and to the ladies who served the funeral dinner. We appreciate you and know Dad would have been very pleased. Marilyn and Keith Peck and family Gary Morgan and family l -28-1 c When we decided to publish our plea for donations and in formation on “Adopting a Pla toon of 35 Soldiers", we had no idea w hat the response would be; thinking that if we received even two pairs o f socks, it would be great. The important thing was that it gave people some information on how they could perhaps spon sor “their" own soldier or pla toon. O ur co m m u n ity to ta lly amazed us! Immediately, dona tions started rolling in. We re ceived 22 pairs o f black socks, bags o f hard candy, teas, three cases of coffee, cases of sug ar and creamer packages, play ing cards, small games, hand creams, dental care products, personal hygiene products, gum, lemonades, in addition to a total o f $333 in cash dona tions! We used part o f that do nated money to fill out the box es with another 13 pairs o f socks, beef jerky, cans o f nuts and lots o f other protein foods. Dennis and Babette Wall volunteered their time helping us sort, pack and tape three large boxes. Postage was do nated by Columbia Basin. On Friday morning, Jan. 23, the boxes left for their Iraq desti nation. Donations came from all over: from the Gas Trans mission NW coal fire plant, lone, Lexington, Heppner, in cluding Howe’s About Pizza, and Condon. Thank you all so much for making this a great success! This deserving platoon will cer tainly enjoy their Valentine box es from our community. The best news is we have a great start on an Easter Adopt a Pla toon shipment! If you would like to support a platoon, an individual soldier, or would like more information on “AdoptaPlatoon”, look at http://www.adopta platoon.org/ howsupport.html.
