The s u b je c t w a s d e s c rib e d as suicidal. The subject had called his mother earlier and advised he w as at a gas statio n in B o a r d m a n . S u b je c t w a s unable to be located at any o f the gas stations, but was later found at R iverview M otel. It w as determ ined that all w as okay and he w as advised to call his wife and mother. Obituaries Lois V. Winchester Lois V. W inchester, 94, o f Heppner, died Tuesday, O c t. 7, 2 0 0 3 , a t P io n e e r Memorial Hospital. G ra v e sid e se rv ic es w e re h e ld O c t. 11 a t th e H eppner M asonic Cemetery. W inchester was bom M arch 12,1909, at the family ranch on Sand H ollow near H e p p n e r, th e d a u g h te r o f M artin and M yrtle P ickett Reid. She attended school at Heppner. She w as m arried to Low ell L. Turner; the couple later divorced. O n M ay 10, 1945, she m arried E arnest W inchester at Payette, ID. S h e o p e r a te d a beauty saloon in Heppner for 60 years. She e n jo y ed the outdoors and had a cabin in the m ountain at the head o f D itch C reek, w hich w as a w ell-k n o w n lan d m ark and gathering place for many. She w as a founding m em b e r o f th e W ran g lers R iding C lub and had been a m em b e r o f th e D eg ree o f Honor. Throughout her life she w as active in m any anim al- rights organizations. Survivors include a daughter, Em a W inchester o f Heppner, a son, Lowell Turner of L y le , W A; tw o grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. H er husband died in 1984. M e m o r i a l contributions m ay be m ade to any animal rights organization o r h u m an e so c ie ty o f the d o n o r’s choice. Sweeney Mortuary o f H e p p n e r is in c h a rg e o f arrangements. Dorothy Marie Arbogast D o r o th y M a rie A rbogast, 84, o f Pendleton, died M onday, O ct. 6, 2003, at her hom e in Pendleton. A funeral w as held O ct. 13 at B um s M ortuary Chapel o f Pendleton. A rb o g ast w as b o m M arch 4, 1919, at M ission, the daughter o f R aym on and Rose Ellies Badgett. S h e m a r r ie d Ira Arbogast in June o f 1940. The couple spent th eir m arried years in Pendleton and Ukiah. T he m ajority o f her life w as spent as a hom em aker. She enjoyed w orking w ith crafts and following the activities o f her 10 grandchildren, as well as her great-grandchildren and g re a t-g re a t-g ra n d c h ild re n , nieces and nephews. She is su rv iv ed by three sons, W illard o f Pilot R ock, Paul o f H eppner and N o r v e l o f P e n d le to n ; a brother, Jim Badgett o f M oses Lake, WA; and three sisters, A lic e K le in o f F lo re n c e , R osalee Pow ell o f M ilton- F r e e w a te r a n d C h a r lo tte T h o m p s o n o f M ilto n - Freewater.
