Tucker was bom Dec.
22, 1927, near Heppner, to
William and Mildred Harrison
Tucker. He grew up in the
H eppner area and attended
area schools and helped his
family by logging trees.
During World War II,
he served w ith the A rm y and
w as stationed in Germ any.
D uring the Korean War he
served w ith the Air Force.
O n June 8, 1950, he

Drake.

including C h ief o f Police. He
was a m em ber o f the lone
V olunteer Fire D epartm ent
and a life m em ber o f the lone
American Legion, receiving a
50-year pin.
He loved sp en d in g
time in the mountains, fishing,
hunting deer and elk, looking
for m ushroom s, collecting
coins, antiques and he was an
avid rockhound. It w as said
that he w as always w illing to
lend a hand to neighbors and
friends.

Car Show to be
held
T h e H ig h D e s e rt
Kruzers are sponsoring their
eighth annual “Show-n-Shine”
car show. The show will be
held S aturday, A ug. 2, in
Prairie City, OR.
C h e c k - in a n d a t-
event registration will be held
from 9-11 a.m., at City Park.
A Poker W alk around city
m erchants will be held from
10 a.m .-2 p.m . Poker hands
and car show ballots w ill be
turned in at 2 p.m. Prizes will
be aw arded at 3 p.m . The
event will finish with a cruise
down the valley to John Day
and back, about 30 m inutes
roundtrip.
The five classes for the
event are: 1948 and older car;
1949 to 1959 car; 1960 to
1978 car; truck and utility
1978 a n d o ld e r ; a n d
convertible 1978 and older.
Registration is $ 15 for
the first car and $ 10 for the
second. The registration fee
includes a "'goodie bag,” dash
plaque and poker walk entry.
All entrants must have a proof
o f insurance and be at least
18-years-old or accompanied
by an adult.
