The annual luncheon for the Heppner and lone senior girls is sponsored by Willow Valley Service Club and catered by All Saints Episcopal. Jeri McElligott of lone was the guest speaker. The Rev. Keith Brudevold provided musical entertainment. Table decorations were provided by the WVSC. Caitlin Orem e a sily w on a g a in st S tacy Garcia, 6-3,6-0. Tyler Raible played against John M agana but was unable to post a win, losing 0-6,0-6. Magana is the n u m b er o n e seed for the d is tr ic t a n d h a s m o re experience, but Raible was able to take control o f several points by attacking the net. T he M ustangs, 1-1, dropped the first gam e 13-12 as they out hit the Bulldogs 13-6, but gave up 12 walks and hit six batters. The M ustangs took a 1-0 lead after one as Kory Paullus walked, stole second and scored on a Luke Murray single. They added three more in the second when Dan Basile walked, M atthew VanCleave reached on a fielder’s choice, Jode Coil w as hit by a pitch, Basile scored on a passed ball , _ .. . and Pauli us scored two more with a single. T h e Mustangs, 3-3 on the year, will be at Sherm an County for a double-header, Friday, April 11 and will host Wahtonka on Tuesday, April 15 at 4 p.m. The Mustangs wasted no tim e in breaking the game open as Chuy Elguezabal led off'with a single, Josh Winters was hit by a pitch and Brad Adams hit a long home run to left field. Coil and R obert W halen singled and Elguezabal walked to force in a run and m ake it 17-0. The M ustangs added one more in the fifth as Lovgren re a c h e d on an e rro r a n d scored on a Gates’ triple to left field. Brad Adams, Winters and G ates com bined for the no-hitter with Adam s picking up the win. G ates w ent four for four with a double, triple and tw o RBI. The M ustangs will be at hom e T h ursday, A pril 10 against the Pendleton Frosh before going on the road to Sherman County on Saturday, April 12 for a double header. The Mustangs jumped out early in game one as Jode Coil and Dan Basile walked, K ory Paullus scored them both with a single, Trevor Rhea has an RBI single and Kyle Carlson was hit by a pitch. M atthew VanCleave walked, Sloan Keithley had a sacrifice fly to score one, Riley Wight was hit by a pitch and later scored on a passed ball and Coil scored a run on a fielder’s choice to m ake it 6-0. They added two more in the second w hen Paullus singled and later scored a b a s e s - lo a d e d w a lk by VanCleave and Carlson was hit by a pitch and later scored on a fielder’s choice by Wight. The Huskies scored a run in the top o f the third but the Mustangs came back with three more in the bottom h alf when Coil and Basile singled and scored on a Paullus double and Rhea had an RBI double. The Huskies added a run in the fourth and one in the fifth to get within 11 -3 but the M u stan g s en d ed it in the bottom half on the ten-run rule w h e n R h e a a n d C a rls o n r e a c h e d on e r r o r s a n d K eithley w alked to load the bases and W ight doubled to right-center to score tw o and m ake it 13-3. Coil went three innings to pick up the win striking out five and allowing ju st one hit and one unearned run. Carlson and VanCleave each pitched an inning o f relief. Paullus went three for four with four RBI and scored three runs, Rhea went two for three with two RBI and scored twice, Coil went two for three with an RBI and scored twice, Basile w ent one for tw o and scored twice, Wight went one for three w ith tw o RBI and Carlson scored three runs. The Huskies scored a run in the top o f the first in the s e c o n d g a m e , b u t th e M ustangs cam e back w ith three in the bottom half when Coil led o ff w ith a triple and scored on a Basile sac fly. R h e a w a lk e d a n d c o m e around to score on a Josh G utierrez double, w ho later scored on a Carlson single. The H uskies scored three in the third to take a 4-3 le a d b u t th e M u s ta n g s responded w ith an eight run bottom half to regain the lead. Robert Whalen and Gutierrez singled, Carlson had an RBI single and VanCleave scored another run with a sac fly. Wight walked, Keithley had an RBI single, Coil walked, Basile scored two more with a single an d R h ea, G u tie rre z an d Carlson each had RBI singles to m ake it 11 -4. Gutierrez allowed just tw o hits over the final four innings to take the com plete game win. He struck out nine and w alked ju st one over seven innings. Carlson went four for four with three RBI, Gutierrez w ent three for four w ith a double and two RBI and Coil went three for four w ith a double and a triple. The Bulldogs scored a run in the sixth and five in the seventh to steal the win. Murray went four for five w ith a double and three RBI, Paullus w ent tw o for three with two RBI and scored three runs, Rhea went two for fo u r w ith a d o u b le a n d Bergstrom went two for five with a double, Basile was one for three with a double and two RBI. In the second gam e, the B ulldogs took a l -0 lead in the first, but the M ustangs came back with two in the top o f the second when Basile singled, Carlson was hit by a pitched and Sloan K eithley had a two out, two RBI single. The Bulldogs cam e back with three in the third to ta k e a 4 -2 le a d , b u t th e Mustangs came back with two in the fourth as Rhea walked, went to second on a bunt by B a s ile a n d s c o re d on a VanCleave single and he later scored on an RBI single by Keithley to tie it at 4-4. The M ustangs took the lead for good in the fifth w hen Coil double, w ent to third on a fly-out by Paullus and scored on a double by Murray. R h ea s in g le d and B a sile scored tw o with a double to m ake it 7-4. The Bulldogs scored a run in the fifth and a run in the seventh and had the tying run on third with one out, but the M ustangs held on for the win. Basile w ent tw o for three w ith a double and tw o RBI. Rhea went two for three and scored twice, VanCleave w ent tw o for three w ith an RBI, Keithley w ent tw o for four with three RBI, Coil went one for two with a double and Paullus had a triple as the M ustangs had 11 hits as a team. Paullus picked up the win going four innings in relief o f M urray, striking out four, walking two, giving up three hits and two runs.
