The Mustangs improved to 8-3 in the CBC and 15-6 overall. The Mustangs fell behind 4-0 early but cam e back on tw o baskets from Brad Adam s and a r u n n in g ju m p e r fro m J o s h W inters to take a 6-4 lead. The V ikings cam e back to take the lead, but Brian Smith hit two free throw s to tie it up at 8-8. A fter a Viking basket, Chuy Elguezabal made one o f two free throws and hit a running ju m p er to give the M ustangs an 11-10 lead after one. S m ith h it a re b o u n d basket and A dam s scored o ff a pass from Elguezabal to open the second, but the Vikings went on a 10-3 run, E lguezabal hit a 3- pointer, to take a 20-18 lead at the half. B ra n d o n S e itz h it a baseline jum per and after another Umatilla basket, Winters scored o ff a drive to make it 25-24. The V ikings scored to up their lead to there again, but Elguezabal scored on a lay-in after a Seitz blocked shot. After a Viking free throw, the M ustangs w ent on a 7-0 run to close the third. Luke M u rray hit one o f tw o free throws, Adams and Seitz scored o ff rebounds and A dam s hit a ju m p er to give the M ustangs a 33-28 lead after three. M u rray sc o re d o f f a drive to open the fourth, then V ikings hit a 3 -p o in te r and M urray fed Sm ith for a lay-in. The Vikings hit another 3-pointer and Winters hit a rebound basket. The Vikings then hit tw o free throw s, but Sm ith scored o ff a pass from Murray and made one o f two free throws to make it 42- 36. The Vikings cam e back w ith a 3-pointer and tw o free throws to get within one with 2:34 left, Tanner Britt scored on a tip- in, but the Vikings got to within one at 44-43 w ith 1:17 left. It stayed that way until Elguezabal hit tw o free throw s w ith 7.9 seconds left, to m ake it 46-43. After the Vikings missed on the front end o f a one and one, Adams hit one o f two free throws with 4 seconds left to take the win. Adam s finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals. T he M ustangs got six points from Chelsea Britt in the first as they took a 9-2 lead after one and eight points from Lacey M a tte so n , in c lu d in g tw o 3- pointer, in the second as they took a 19-18 lead at the half. T y ly n n S m ith a n d Stefanie H anson each had four points in the third as the Mustangs increased their lead to 29-22 after three. They pushed it to 33-22 as Britt scored on a pass from Nikki Sisk and M atteson hit a short ju m p er and extended it to 40-26 on a Sisk jum per, Sm ith free throw, and two free throw s from Matteson a lay-in by Smith on a pass from Jesse Kem pas. The Vikings scored the final seven points, but it w as too little, too late. Matteson had 13 points, 13 rebounds and three assists. Britt added 10 points and two steals. Smith had seven points, seven rebounds and four steals, K em pas had four rebounds, three assists and three steals and Sisk had tw o assists and two steals. The Pirates led 12-8 in th e first q u a rte r b e fo re the M ustangs rallied to take a 16-12 lead after one as Kory Paullus, Rory K ilkenny and M ikel Britt each scored four points. In the M ustangs big second quarter, Josh Lankford had five points, in c lu d in g a 3 -p o in te r, an d P a u llu s, B ritt and M atth ew V anC leave each scored four points to give them a 39-14 lead at the half. The Mustangs increased their lead to 51-23 after three getting four m ore points from Paullus and coasted through the fourth getting four points from Dan Basile, three from Kilkenny an d a 3 -p o in te r from M att Kenny. Paullus had 14 points, with Britt adding 12 points and Kilkenny 10. VanCleave had six points and Lankford and Kyle I Carlson each had five, as all the M ustangs scored. The Mustangs improved to 8-3 in th e C B C a n d 1&-6 overall. The team will finish the regular season at W ahtonka on Friday, Feb. 21 and depending on what happens in the final w eek, they could have a tie b rea k e r gam e on S aturday, Feb. 22. T h e M u s ta n g s fe ll behind early, 8-4, to the Huskies m anaging ju st a short jum per from Brandon Seitz and a Luke M urray rebound basket, but went on a 15-2 run to close out the first quarter. Brad Adam s m ade tw o free throw s, Josh Winters hit a short jum per on a pass from Murray, Brian Smith hit a rebound basket and Chuy Elguezabal hit two free throws, drove tw ice for lay-ins and converted a three-point play to make it 19-10 after one. Tanner Britt scored off a pass from Elguezabal who then drove the key for another lay-in and Adam s scored on a move inside to open the second quarter and push the lead to 25- 10. Elguezabal hit a 3-pointer and Murray hit two free throws to m ake it 30-15, then, the M ustangs went on another run as Elguezabal scored twice on the fast break and fed Britt for a jumper. Adams made one o f two free throws, Elguezabal hit two free throws and Justin Botefuhr hit two free throw s to m ake it 41-19 at the half. The Mustangs didn't let up in third as Murray scored off a drive, Elguezabal hit a short jum per and W inters and Seitz scored o ff rebounds to make it 49-23. M urray hit tw o free throws, Seitz hit a long jum per on the baseline, M urray scored o ff a rebound and a lay-in on a pass from A dam s, Seitz hit another long ju m p e r on the baseline and Elguezabal hit one o f tw o free throw s to end the third with the Mustangs leading 60-34. M urray scored inside and A dam s hit a short jum per on a pass from Elguezabal to m ake it 64-36 and after a 6-0 I run by the Huskies, Britt hit two free throw s to m ake it 66-42. The Huskies went on an 8-0 run until Botefuhr hit one o f two free throws, Conor Kilkenny scored off a rebound and Donald Adams hit one o f two free throw s to make it 70-52. W inters hit three o f four free throws and Britt two more to close out the scoring with the Mustangs cruising to the win. Seitz hit four o f seven shots for eight points and had five rebounds. Brad Adams had eight rebounds, two assists and tw o steals, Sm ith had four rebounds and tw o steals and Kilkenny had five rebounds. The M ustangs hit 14 o f 23 shots in the first h a lf and finished with 25 o f 52 for the gam e and hit 24 o f 30 free throws.
