The contest is open to all ages, with the competition broke down into four categories. The categories include: Preteen (12 and under). Junior (13-16), Senior (17-24) and Adult. Contestants must construct and model their garments made of 100 percent wool fabric or yams (minimum of 60 percent wool or specialty wool fibers). Winners in the junior and senior categories will receive a trip to Renaissance Hotel in Washington D.C. to compete in the “National Make it Yourself with Wool” competition, Feb. 6- 8,2003. Contestants must select appropriate style garment and coordinate the fabric with the garment design. Two other categories, Made for Others and Fashion Design/Apparel, are available for submissions. Entry forms must be submitted to the program director by Friday, Nov. 22, to compete in this year’s contest. There will be a putting contest also, with the winner getting half the pot of money. Registration starts at 12:30 p.m., with tee-off at 1 p.m. The event is sponsored by Valby Lutheran Church of lone, Hope Lutheran Church of Heppner and All Saints Episcopal Church of Heppner. Winners will be announced and a potluck dinner open to everyone will start at about 3:30 p.m. The event and potluck are open to anyone who wants to come.
